LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS COUNTRY BLUES 1959 Tradition Records TLP 1035 2nd Tradition Label
This record is in EX+ condition. The cover is VG+.
This recording is of one of the blues singers "discovered" or re-discovered by folksong fans of the 1950s and '60s. They traveled through the Southern United States to locate blues singers who had previously recorded, usually 78rpm shellac records. These performers usually had fallen out favor with record producers. However, the folksong revival produced audiences eager to hear their music. Lightnin' Hopkins was one of these artists.
His creativity is easily heard on this 1959 recording. The record is in outstanding condition for its age. We can be fairly certain of the recording's date since we know when the performances were taped, and the record has a label that Tradition used only during the late 1950s.
The cover is almost in as good condition as the record but with signs of wear.
