Led Zeppelin : Presence A1 / B1 1st Press

This first pressing plays with stunning quality, there is no interference.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is so impressive and I have graded all tracks as Mint or Mint- apart from 'Royal Orleans' on S1 which has a little inner groove distortion, very minimal though!  This is very common with this LP and I am sure is due to how it was produced / manufactured.  The vinyl is visually stunning and has been so well preserved over the last 48 years.

That also applies to the embossed cover, I have never seen a better one.  It is so clean and basically has no wear!  It is stunning!  The paper inner is also in great condition with only minimal wear.  This album must have been purchased to be part of a pristine collection rather than to be played.  A FINAL UPGRADE for sure.

This first pressing has Made In UK on the labels and the band name / title on the front cover and the Apollo logo on the back are embossed.  The text on the spine is a darker black also.

SSK 59402 A1 / SSK 59402 B1

The audio on S1 is Mint(-) (T3 Near Mint)

The audio on S2 is Mint(-)

The gatefold is Mint-

The inner sleeve is Ex+

The labels are Near Mint

Visual description

This vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a superb glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a handful of ultra faint hairlines and one very small faint blemish on S2 which has no affect on the audio.  The run out grooves are super clean and the Swan Song labels are close to perfect with only very minimal spindle wear.

Play grading

The quiet build up on 'Achilles Last Stand' plays perfectly as does the rest of the intro.  Plant's opening vocal section is equal to that and it continues to play with phenomenal quality from then onwards.  I personally do not think it is the best produced of their repertoire (thin vinyl etc) but there is no denying the audio quality here.  The mid instrumental is a case in point - Bonham's driving percussion is so strong and Page's work as clean and powerful as ever.  Every section is 'as new' and the guitar fade out plays with sublime clarity also.  Definitely a Mint start to the album.

'For Your Life' plays to the same standard with no intrusion  Great work from Jones here also adding so much depth to the track.  No 'muddiness' to the sound either and none of the 'tinny' distortion that is so often associated with this album.  Another Mint track with not one dust tick for company.

'Royal Orleans' plays very clearly but there is perhaps just a little 'tinny' distortion mainly on the guitar sections I would say.  More due to the production / manufacture than anything - I will grade as Near Mint although that could be deemed as too harsh as there is no actual interference across the entire track.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

The intro on 'Nobody's Fault But Mine' is near perfect with only 3/4 very minor statics that are totally non-intrusive.  As Bonham and Jones join in the playback is 'as new' and the opening vocal is just as strong.  The first 'silence' is 100% silent and it continues to play with a sonic quality that is second to none.  In other words it just could not play any better.  The mid instrumental featuring the best harmonica work you are every likely to hear (!) plays so well and Page's solo on the end section is stunning also.  This is Mint- at the very least.

'Candy Store Rock' plays with superb audio from start to finish with no background.  An underrated track in my opinion the power and depth is so impressive and the clarity is faultless.  Mint

'Hots On For Nowhere' plays to a similar standard with nothing getting in the way of the audio.  A 'busy' track the clarity of sound is so 'clear' and only the end section is perhaps not quite on the same level.  Again am I just being too picky!  Looking for faults almost.  It still deserves to be graded as Mint-

The intro on 'Tea For One' has no intrusion and then the first quiet section and opening vocal play with remarkable clarity and warmth.  There is just one very quiet static sound.  It continues in the same precise way and is without doubt one of the 'cleanest' versions of this classic that I have ever heard.  The first high octane passage plays so clearly with zero distortion and the following section from Page could not play any better.  You can see why this track was regarded as a follow up to Since I've Been Loving You almost.  There is just a hint of barely audible static for a couple of seconds.  The next vocal is perfect and the remainder plays with stunning quality also.  What. A. Version!  It has to grade as Mint- and there certainly aren't many of those around today on a genuine first press!

The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve

The embossed cover has to be the most stunning example I have ever seen.  As we all know this one is so often found in poor condition due to not being laminated and so 'white'.  I am struggling to find any wear!  One tiny crease next to the spine and a mega faint 'line' near the bottom of the back cover.  It is unbelievably clean and the edges and corners have no shelf wear at all.  It has retained its original shape and structure perfectly and I imagine it has always been kept inside a pvc sleeve all its life.  Beautiful!

The original paper inner is also in excellent order with no side splits and barely any creasing.  It just has a couple of 'lines' running down each side caused by the glue holding it together as is common and a handful of minor 'abrasions' on the back cover in the centre.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
