Led Zeppelin : Presence A1/B1 1st Press UK 1976
This FINAL UPGRADE album plays with remarkable quality and what makes it even more collectable is the fact that it has the rare A1/B1 matrix. More were pressed with the A2/B1 or the A2/B2 matrix and to find one as impressive as this is a real rarity. This is from the same owner as the 'Physical Graffiti' album I am selling and is just as good! The vinyl is in pristine condition and has only been played the once.
The gatefold is in superb condition with no real shelf wear and is one of the finest examples I have ever seen. Being a first press the band name and title are embossed on the front cover and it also has the embossed 'Apollo' logo on the back. The inner sleeve is also in fantastic shape and is 'as new'.

Visual grading
This is as good as it gets! The vinyl is visually stunning and has an amazing jet-black glossy sheen and looks as good as any unplayed vinyl! There are no hairlines or scratches and just the one mega faint spindle trace on the S1 label. The run grooves and labels are also in fantastic condition. This is one immaculate vinyl that will not disappoint!
Play grading
The lead in grooves on this genuine first press are so 'clean' and the intro on 'Achilles Last Stand' then plays with perfect precision. As you get 'into' the track the audio plays with incredible depth and there is no distortion on the top end. This is audio of the highest quality and it is obvious the record has been hardly played as there is just no interference of any kind. Bonham's work is always so powerful but nowhere is that more in evidence than on this track and especially on a vinyl as 'clean' as this. I have no hesitation in grading this as Mint as the audio cannot be faulted in any way.
'For Your Life' is of the same 'high end' standard with no 'background' not even a dust tick. From start to finish it plays with immense power and depth and again a Mint grade is deserving here.
'Royal Orleans' ends the side with audio equal to when it was first released in '76. There is a little inner groove distortion but that is a common feature on this track and cannot be avoided. It still plays remarkably well with not one iota of interference.

'Nobody's Fault But Mine' has a little static on the intro but it is not intrusive and there are no loud clicks or pops. From then on it plays with superb clarity and power and the mid instrumental section is stunning! The playback is so strong and there is no distortion at all. Aside from the static at the beginning this is again audio of the highest calibre.
The 'quiet' intro on 'Candy Store Rock' plays with perfect clarity and then proceeds to play with Mint quality to the very last note. A stunning version without question.
'Hots On For Nowhere' provides another fine example of a vinyl hardly played. From start to finish it plays with exceptional precision and with no 'background' whatsoever. No more needs to be said :-)
'Tea For One' plays with wonderfully clean audio right from the start and the first quiet section is stunning as there is not even a dust tick! As Plant's vocal begins there is no decrease in quality and it continues to play with sublime definition. There are so many quiet sections and yet they all play 'as new' there is no other way to describe it. This may be the 'cleanest' version of this classic that I have ever heard with a clarity that is so rarely found on this now 43 year old record. There are no clicks or pops and no static or crackle either and qualifies as Mint it is that good.
In summary there cannot be many A1/B1 first pressings that play as well as this today. The only 'background' on the audio is at the beginning of S2 and even then it is only minimal. The remainder is of a 'high end' standard and as I said before this is obviously a vinyl that has hardly been played. Just one look at the vinyl confirms that! The embossed cover is also in lovely condition as is the inner sleeve. A superb album overall.
The Gatefold
This cover is about as 'clean' as you get! The edges and wide spine are in perfect condition and the corners have no shelf wear worthy of mention. The opening edge has no handling wear at all. The front cover is beautifully clean and has none of the marking that you so often see. The back cover is almost as good with just three tiny marks in bottom left corner and the inside of the gatefold is pristine. This is a near perfect example and it would be very difficult to find better!
Inner Sleeve
The rough textured inner is 'as new' with no wear of any kind. Stunning!
The Labels
They are in sublime condition with no marking/writing and as stated just one barely visible spindle trace on the S1 label.

This record has been professionally cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
