Absolutely stunning quality vinyls not very often seen for Zep records in general. No Warner Brothers  (WB) on the labels indicating a very first press. "Executive producer Peter Grant" on the labels.

 

First press matrices A1  B4 C1 D1 with the earliest stampers. Many sellers will pass a B5 matrix off for a 1st press, probably in ignorance. Strictly speaking that would be a second press albeit it also a very early issue and rare. The B4 matrix is the one and only first press proper.

Again all these are indicators for a first genuine press.

VINYLS ARE EX AND RETAIN HIGH GLOSS SHINE

'Following the staggering reunion triumph at the O2, which I was lucky enough to be at, interest in Led Zeppelin has become greater than ever, with the site for the Ahmettribute.com tribute concert receiving an unbelievable 120 million hits, with 25 million people apparently registering for a Zeppelin ticket, its as good a time as any to invest in an original copy early press of this classic Zep album.'

Vinyls: EX . Great first press UK  vinyls.  Under a strong light only a thin hairline can be seen on side D. This does not impact on the wonderful sound and is non feelable.  All sides look EX and only show very light paper retraction traces under a very strong light. I have played two of the sides on a high end system (Linn Sondek/Rotel) and it did not disappoint. This sounded better than any re-issue, like only an original press can. Lovely channel separation without any distortion and only light static at times. I have seen a few copies of this album in the past but this is definitely one of the better ones. Barely any static at all. Needless to say really, NO jumps, NO clicks, NO sticks etc..



Sleeve: VG++. The outer sleeve has all the die cuts of the windows. Two of these  to the front have a small repaired tear. The spine has its original red writing (later ones had black writing) and is 100% legible. Wear on the edges is very minimal and I do believe that this is quite a nice example. The inner card insert with lyrics is in excellent condition. The inner picture card sleeves are in nice condition although one has bits of tape residue on one edge.
