Description
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with an Elys cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. Any significant playing defects will be detailed in the description below. I know how disappointing it is to receive a record graded as excellent, only to find that listening pleasure is spoiled by endless pops, loud clicks and intrusive background crackle. I guarantee that you will not buy such a record from me!!
The winning bidder can expect to receive a clean record, carefully packaged, with the vinyl removed from the inner and outer sleeves to prevent splits in transit.
Here for auction is an exceptional example of the iconic double album by LED ZEPPELIN titled “PHYSICAL GRAFFITI”, Catalogue Number SSK 89400. This is an ORIGINAL 1975 UK *1st PRESSING* on the SWAN SONG RECORD LABEL, with THE EARLIEST A1, B4, C1, D1 MATRIX NUMBERS and *1st ISSUE* GOTHIC PRINT FINISHERS MATT FINISH SLEEVE.
The single card sleeve, with window cut-outs, printed and made in England by Gothic Print Finishers Ltd., is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. The front and back covers are unmarked with only a couple of tiny creases near the edges. The window cut-outs are near perfect with just one on the back cover having a small knock to one edge. Both side edges (the left one being the spine) are square and solid with barely any wear at all. The spine text is perfect. The bottom edge shows just very light rubbing in places. The opening edges, which are so often badly frayed and split, are in fine shape with only light feathering evident. There is only very light rubbing to the corners. There are no splits, stickers or writing. Overall a lovely example of this fragile 1st issue sleeve!!
Both *1st Press* records retain their original deep mirror-like shine and sit flat and true on the turntable. Visually all 4 sides are in EXCELLENT(+) CONDITION with just very light sleeve removal type surface marks evident under bright light. These are purely superficial and do not cause any audio problems. The BEAUTIFUL SWAN SONG LABELS are unmarked with barely any spindle traces evident. Interestingly, the Record 1 labels have Warner “W” logos, whereas the Record 2 labels do not, although Record 1 carries the A1/B4 matrix numbers which confirm a UK 1st pressing. There is no wear around the spindle holes. I am confident that the records have not been played many times.
PLAYGRADE ASSESSMENT:
All 4 sides play superbly with all frequencies crystal clear. The first press mix is quite different to that of later issues. This is a particularly loud and vibrant recording which sound sensational played at loud volume. There are no pops or loud clicks, and a minimum of unwanted noise to spoil the listening experience. A better playing 1st press copy may be very difficult to find!!
The thick card picture inner sleeves are both in EXCELLENT+ condition.
The shaped card insert, with the letters and credits, is also in EXCELLENT CONDITION, with just a little age discoloration.
OVERALL A SUPERB COMPLETE *1st PRESS* EXAMPLE OF THIS CLASSIC ALBUM - DON’T MISS THIS ONE!!!

The international postage costs listed above do not include insurance. Your invoice will include an insured option. I strongly recommend that you take up this option, but it is entirely up to you. If you don't add the required insurance and your record is lost or damaged, you will not get a refund. I can’t make it any clearer than that!
The UK postage cost includes insurance up to a value of £32. If the final sale price is more than this, your invoice will include an insurance option. The same applies as specified in the above paragraph.
