LED ZEPPELIN II - (1st Press 1970 SD-8236 )
                                 Rob't Ludwig both sides RL-SS of the dead wax run-ff area .  Ludwig is legendary for his uncanny and imaginative ability to utilize everything at his disposal to capture the essence of the entire sound spectrum of frequencies and sounds in its purest form- and more fully and ingeniously than any of his peers within the industry-- quite a feat.


VINYL:  EXC+ or better
At first look it looks unplayed  just like all the other records in this collection.  There is zero wear around the hole but it was played a few times (I play-graded it too...plays fine).  Generally, the owner of this collection would play his records once to record them. Some of the  earlier albums such as this one may of been recorded twice when he upgraded his recording equipment years later with a more sophisticated system.  The majority of the collection was actually unused/unplayed store-stock (especially the 45s).   A few of the earlier LPs from the late 60s, like this Zeppelin album however are played more but it came from a very fastidious collector who took extremely good care of them.  I cannot imagine finding such a high-grade example as this at the price.

Although at first glance it looks well-preserved in its original shrink wrap,  at one time the spine was nicked, which tore the cello and left a small ding in the spine and back cover of the album itself which wore away the first layer of paper (see photos).  There is a light off-white, light tanish age to and around the spine where time has left its mark, probably because the shrink wrap was no longer perfectly air-tight around it.   Also some light wear around the outer corners where shrink wrap isn't protecting it.   The dig on the back cover is the real grade-dropper, but even with that, it is still a sharp-looking cover and well-preserved.  So many of these original SD8236 covers are so very heavily worn.
A good opportunity to get in on a great original issue high-grade Ludwig copy at a low price- !

To answer questions on vinyl:  Under very strong daylight sun, one can detect a lot of scattered little light scuffs, but these do not effect the play and are not visible under normal daylight conditions.  This is why the grade is Exc. It is too clean to be VG,  but not perfect enough visually to be NM (although I wish it were).  Grading opinions will vary and some will feel the grade better based on the providence, perhaps some may think the condition less (hopefully not).  I think Exc to Exc+ is a very honest grade. I try to be very conservative when I grade because no one likes returns,  while at the same time, not deliberately down-grading a record for fear of returns.   Condition  can be a tighrope walk for both seller and buyer when not face-to-face to inspect it personally and that's why I prefer to deal in strictly unused or mint records only when selling by mail.  That said,  it's still a perfectly acceptable  nice copy ..Exc but no more...certainly not mint,  and we think everyone will be pleased.  

NOTE-----   !!!!     THERE WAS A SMALL PHOTO ERROR  -    There is NO sticker on the back of the shrink-wrap.   This is from another album.   We have 4-5 copies of LZ II from this collection of which half of them still had their shrink-wrap but they were later re-issues.  We began to take photos of all of them but stopped and decided to just list the Rob't Ludwig copy first...somehow we still managed to goof-up a photo though and we apologize for that.....a small error,  but important all the same.  The album's shrink is original but with NO sticker on back of cover---just blank.    Thank you.
