Led Zeppelin II A2/B2 Atlantic 58818 UK 1969 Red/Plum Label ('Wreck' credit) 
This rare and collectable 'Wreck' pressing plays with excellent audio overall but with some interference on S1 as detailed below.  S2 in particular is absolutely stunning with very little 'background'.  The light brown gatefold has the green tinted edging and spine as per all the 'Wreck' pressings.
As per the genuine first pressings it has the rare 'Livin' Lovin' Wreck' credit on the label as well as the 'The Lemon Song' credit of course.  It has the 'Copyright Control' publishing credits rather than the 'Warner Bros/Jewel Music' which is on the later pressings.  It also has very low 'stampers' and is one of the earliest first pressings.

Visual grading
This has certainly been played a number of times as there is a fair amount of spindle wear but less so on S2 judging by the stunning quality of the audio.  There are various hairlines but there are no scratches.  S1 has a few more hairlines and 3/4 that are a little more obvious plus a couple of small scuff marks.  S2 does have a fair amount of hairlines but they are just that, sleeve removal hairlines that have no affect on the superb playback.  As can be seen there is unfortunately a large S written on the S1 label and a stamp mark but the S2 label is very clean.  By no means visually perfect but for such a rare pressing it still plays very well.
Play grading
The intro on 'Whole Lotta Love' plays extremely well with only a little light background static and there are no clicks or pops.  The depth of the audio is very impressive and it continues to play in the same way.  At the beginning of the psychedelic instrumental section there are a small number of light click sounds but the music still plays very clearly and they are not that intrusive.  The remainder of this section plays with stunning clarity and such a strong deep bass sound.  The guitar solo that follows displays incredible power and there is no distortion at all.  The quiet 'way down inside' vocal has a few light clicks at the beginning and some light 'background' static but again the music is still very much to the fore.  The rest of this classic plays with great power and no other interference aside from a little crackle on the fade out.
'What is and What Should Never Be' has only a little static on the intro and the first 'chorus' plays in impeccable style with no 'background'.  This track of course has many quiet sections and yet the playback is very impressive with barely any interference.  A little static here and there but certainly nothing that is intrusive and there are no clicks or pops.  The louder sections also play with excellent quality and whilst there is perhaps just a little distortion on the end section it is minimal and most sellers would not even mention it!  The extended fade out has only a little background static and plays very clearly.  Overall this track plays to a very impressive standard.
'The Lemon Song' has a little static distortion on the intro but you will always find that on the red/plum pressings.  As it continues there is a little static but nothing that detracts from the audio and there are no clicks or pops.  The first guitar solo plays with breathtaking power and there is no distortion on the top end.  There is a little more static on the section that follows and a number of light clicks on the long bass section also.  This certainly isn't a final upgrade track but it remains a very good listen and the clicks are certainly not loud.  The louder end section plays with superb power with only a little crackle on the fade out.
'Thank You' has a couple of pops on the first couple of notes as the volume is increasing and the intro then plays clearly but with some light static background.  There is some static/distortion as it progresses but this track regularly plays in that way.  It is still a very good listen but not quite as 'clean' as the other tracks.  In saying that there are no clicks or pops and perhaps I am being too critical!  The 'if the sun refused to shine...' section actually plays quite well when you consider how quiet it is and there is only background static and a little crackle.  The instrumental piece leading up to the fade out/in/out section has a little more 'background' but it could be said this adds to the atmosphere of vinyl!  And I hasten to add there are no clicks or pops!  Not the best version I have heard but it certainly is not the worst!

'Heart Breaker' plays with exceptional power and clarity from the very first groove.  There is barely any static and the entire track has such a strong deep rich sound.  This classic plays with stunning definition and even the 'quiet' middle guitar section is superb with only a modicum of mega light static.  The remainder 'rocks out' in sublime fashion and there is no distortion at all.  The instrumental before the final vocal is quite simply astounding and this is without question one of the most impressive versions of this track that I have ever heard.  No clicks or pops, no intrusive interference of any kind.  Easily Near Mint - sensational!
  'Livin' Lovin' Wreck' I am delighted to say is of the same exacting standard.  Every note plays with stunning precision and I am again confident in grading this as Near Mint but if I'm honest it's better than that!  The depth and sonic quality just could not be any better.  A stunning version.
With complete silence in the dead wax prior to 'Ramble On' the intro then plays with incredible clarity.  There is not even a solitary dust tick let alone anything more.  Pure Mint audio basically and the first 'chorus' is of the same superlative quality.  I think this is a classic example of S2 being played a lot less than S1!  This is a breathtaking version the likes of which are rarely heard on a 'Wreck' pressing.  It just goes to show you cannot beat the red/plum pressings for clarity and depth.  The long fade out also plays with wonderful audio and with only the lightest of 'background' at the very end.
'Moby Dick' is superb from the word go and again the 'listen' is perfect.  You could not wish for a more impressive intro and the start of the drum solo is just so 'clean' and continues to play in exactly the same way.  I honestly cannot believe what I am hearing!  For this relatively 'quiet' track to play as well as this is such a rarity and aside from one light click towards the end of Bonham's solo there is just nothing that interferes with the music.  The end section also plays with superb precision and again no 'background' of any kind.  Wow!
The very quiet intro on 'Bring It On Home' has only a minimal amount of light static and is in no way intrusive.  There is also some static distortion every now and then but it is only minor and there is not one single click or pop.  This final track always has some distortion on the top end of the 'loud' section but there is very little here and plays with a real dynamic power and depth.  This is one of the better versions that you will without doubt.  The quiet end section has only a little static and ends the album in fine style.
In summary this 'Wreck' pressing plays with excellent audio overall and especially S2 which plays with Near Mint quality for the vast majority.  There is a little interference on S1 but there is certainly no section that isn't playable.  Some isolated clicks here and there but as per the grading many sections play to an Ex+ standard apart from the last track I would say.  For such a rare and collectable record that is nearly 50 years of age the clarity and definition for the large part is very impressive.  The light brown gatefold has the green edging and spine and whilst there is some wear and fading it is still in very good condition.
The Gatefold
This is certainly not a perfect 'first press' E.J. Day gatefold but it is more than acceptable and better than many you see.  Being an 'original' it has the green tinge on some of the edges and the spine of course.  Collectors are always looking out for this as the 'Wreck' first pressings were only issued with this type of cover.
The edges have some rubbing and as does the wide 'green tinted' spine but you can still clearly read Led Zeppelin 2 and the catalogue number.  Only the first L is very slightly obscured.  The spine is so often badly worn but this one certainly is not.  The corners have some rubbing but not an excessive amount as can be seen and the opening edge is super clean with barely any handling wear.  The front cover has some fading mainly around the edges and some light marking next to the spine on the white background but overall it is in very good condition and not heavily marked like so many.  The back cover has also stood the test of time very well and has only a little faded ringwear, some other minor 'spotting' and a little marking next to the spine on the top half again.  It is regularly seen with creasing/heavy marking and this is not a bad example at all.  The inside of the gatefold is in superb condition with only a very minimal touch of mega light spotting top left but there is no 'real' marking and at first glance it looks 'as new'!  Overall this is a very good example of this very rare 'green tinted' cover that is fast approaching 50 years of age and unless you want to pay top dollar it is more than acceptable :-)

Inner sleeve
I am sure this is the original poly-lined inner because whilst it isn't a 'Plastic Bags...' one it does have 'R.S. 8 - 69' printed in one corner which would refer to the release date.  It is pretty good 'nick' for its age with only a couple of mega tiny side splits - 1cm and 2cms - and one very small tear on the top edge.  There is also some creasing and age related fading around the edges.
The Labels
They have lost none of their original vibrant colour but as already mentioned there is a large S and a small Record Shop stamp on the S1 label.  The S2 label is very clean with no marking or writing.
