A very nice copy of this 1969 UK very 1st press Led Zep classic, with the mislabelled "wreck", inverted gatefold, very low mother stampers and excellent stereo sound quality making this copy a true rarity
Year/Label : 1969 UK ATLANTIC Label number : 588198 Matrix numbers : 588 198 A2, 588 198 B2 Stampers : 11 10 / 1 2 5 (the earliest stampers I have ever seen)Very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl - completely flat and retaining an impressive jet black lacquered sheen, coming across as barely marked in normal daylight and it is only with close scrutiny under a bright light that a number of fine wispy hairlines and equally faint paper scuff lines come into view on each side - certainly nothing feelable and all appearing to be purely superficial (the truly excellent stereo sound quality is testament to this). The single exception to this is a tiny, barely feelable scratch at the beginning of A4 ("THANKYOU") which does result in x5 light clicks (nothing of real significance) - otherwise excellent stereo sound quality throughout. The labels are in excellent (EX) condition - near perfect with the only blemishes being some very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label. Note the infamous "WRECK" misprint on the side 2 label - synonymous with very 1st UK pressings...later issues had this changed to "MAID". A solid very good (VG) condition E.J. Day gatefold outer sleeve - the edges and spine remain firm but there is virtually continuous scuffing on the top and bottom edges and just a little scuffing and the occasional "nick" on the spine though all spine text remains intact.There is also mild rubbing on the corners, a little age discolouration, a few small and light handling/storage marks, and the spine is slightly flattened. The opening edges remain firm with no fraying, the interior of the gatefold remains in excellent condition and there is no unwanted writing. Despite these relatively minor blemishes the gatefold remains fully functional and highly presentable (do take a close look at my photos where i have attempted to portray a detailed and honest condition appraisal). But what makes this gatefold very interesting (and rare) is the very 1st UK press green hue on the top edge and again on the non-whiter parts of the spine, and the interior of the gatefold which has been pasted on at the manufacturing stage upside down! Not just rare, super rare I would say! Truly excellent (EX) stereo sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, or distortion, and any background crackle is virtually non-existent. Furthermore, the only clicks are x5 light clicks towards the beginning of A4 ("THANKYOU"). Great tone, wonderful clarity and a great listen throughout. Comes with excellent (EX) condition original plain white inner sleeve with correct horizontal "PATENT NO..." and "MADE IN ENGLAND" text - no splits, no edge fraying, no unwanted writing, just a little mild creasing and the merest hint of some very minor age discolouration towards some of the edges. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. A highly collectable copy of this 1969 UK very 1st press Zep classic - not only with great audio but the "WRECK" miscredit, extremely low stamper numbers, and gatefold sleeve "green hue" & upside down interior make this copy one of rock's great rarities.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
