Description
THE MUSIC
Scarce and sought-after 1973 original UK release from Italian prog-rockers, Le Orme. Influenced by Van Der Graff Generator to the extent of drafting in Peter Hammill to write the lyrics and dispensing with a bass player. Released on the Famous Charisma Label CAS 1072, also home to VDGG. Album is a space/philosophical concept around two contrasting planets. Plenty of good prog lunacy with 'soap balls which taste like marzipan and give buoyancy to boats' and nomadic house spheres which are propelled by the wind like 'elastic whales'! Not sure what Hammill was digesting when he wrote these gems!
THE SLEEVE
Excellent condition unlaminated gatefold sleeve featuring surreal artwork and Hammill's lyrics. No ringwear. Spine and edges all excellent for age. This really is a nicely preserved example.
THE RECORD
Excellent condition vinyl A2/B2 press on Mad Hatter Charisma label. This plays very quiet with no crackle which is important on an album with plenty of dynamic contrast. Condition is near to Mint, but graded EX due to a couple of hairline marks which don't affect sound. Comes in poly-lined inner sleeve.
IN CONCLUSION
All in all a very nice example of what is a very rare record and a must for every prog collector and VDGG fan. I'm selling this as I have two copies. This is my BEST copy.
