Description
This is becoming an increasingly rare LP.
It's on the UK Columbia label.
It's a stereo recording and is entitled 'Koobas'. It's by Koobas (formerly known as The Koobas) and the catalogue number is SCX 6271. It was released originally in 1969.
This band were extremely talented and they released some superb 7" singles in the mid-60's. They formed in liverpool in 1962. However, this LP which features excellent freakbeat/psych music was about 3 years too late in 1969 and, sadly, Koobas disappeared. This LP is their brilliant legacy.
OUTER SLEEVE - The flipback sleeve which is laminated on the front is in fine condition. The front shows very minor damage at the corners, some creasing and some minor feathering at the open side. The edges and spine are in fine condition with no damage and only minor creasing. There is an internally repaired 35mm (1.5 inch) horizontal tear on the front right hand side of the sleeve which is visible. The wording along the spine is 100% readable. The flipbacks which are also laminated are in fine condition with minimal wear. In the top right hand corner it states 'File under POPULAR : Pop Groups'. In the bottom right hand corner it states '6901 TPS Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patent No. 943.895 SX 6271 SCX 6271' . The non-laminated rear of the sleeve is in fine condition with almost no discolouration or wear. I've graded the sleeve Ex--.
INNER BAG - Plain white EMI company paper type showing covers of LP's by other EMI recording artists.
RECORD - The record is in fine condition and looks clean and shiny. It appears to have been played a few times. There are some superficial marks on either side which do not affect the quality. It plays very well on both sides with some very minor surface noise and some very occasional pops and clicks on both sides. These blemishes do not detract from the overall quality of record. There is one mark on the last track on side two which shows itself as a click over 10-12 revolutions of the record. However, it plays through with no jumps. There are no jumps on any of the tracks on either side.
LABELS - The labels are black with silver and white wording. On the left side of the labels are printed the matrix numbers (YAX.3716 on side one and YAX.3717 on side two) . There are some light spindle marks around both holes. The labels are in fine condition with no damage. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - YAX 3716 - 1 (stampers 1 G) - side two - YAX 3717 - 1 (stampers 1 G). I've graded the record as Ex which I believe is very fair.
I try to grade everything very conservatively and I believe that the winner of this auction will not be disappointed. I guarantee everything I sell. It will be very difficult to find this record in such fine condition again.
THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS ITEM.
