Description: Joseph Szigeti performs Bach's 3 Sonatas and 3 Partitas for Solo Violin.
This record was part of my father's audiophile LP collection. I am selling a number of other sealed and near-mint condition Jazz, Classical, Rock, and World Music LPs. All were well-cared for and stored upright, most in protective covers, in a smoke-free, climate controlled environment.
Check out my other LPs, and THANK YOU FOR BIDDING!
On Jun-10-13 at 14:16:33 PDT, seller added the following information:NEW DESCRIPTION INFO:
The stamper/matrix info for each side is:
N8 OP8644 - 1C A1
N8 OP8645 - 1
N8 OP8646 - 1B
N8 OP8647 - 1 A1
N8 OP8648 - 1 A1
N8 OP8649 - 1 A1
As I was inspecting these for the matrix data, I used an extremely bright light, which showed me that all of the LPs have what appear to be paper scuffs, from removing/replacing the LPs in the paper sleeves. Also, 8647 has two very light spindle trail marks on the vinyl. And 8649 has a number of small marks on it. I don't have a working turntable, but will try to check and see if any of these marks are audible in the next 24-48 hours. I apolgize for my error here; if you wish to retract a bid for this reason, I understand and will confirm this for eBay, if you need me to. I will also downgrade the general vinyl gondition to VG+ for all LPs. However, please also note that U.S. Vanguard vinyl from this period is not nearly as pristine and perfect-looking as European pressings from later periods.

On Jun-12-13 at 11:54:06 PDT, seller added the following information:I spot-checked the sound on these LPs last night. The overall sound for the set is really great—Near Mint to NM Minus, with the occasional click or pop you’d expect. (Keep in mind that these LPs from 1956 were not pressed on silent virgin vinyl.) The two light spindle trails I saw do not sound. However, some of the scattered marks (mostly on OP 8649 cut 2, but also at the end of cut 1, and the start of cut 3) do sound, but they are not loud clicks, like a scratch would make. They are more of a “woosh” sound, and do not call that much attention to themselves, because the violin sound is so rich and immediate. In any case, do not buy this set if you’re an obsessive collector who needs a pristine-looking copy. But if you love this music and performance, I think you will be extremely happy with the sound on these records--it's wonderful. If you’re the winning bidder and feel that I have misrepresented this set, please contact me immediately, return the LP, and I’ll refund your money.
