Johnny Marr - Autographed Upstarts + Limited Edition Messenger LP US Tour White

Up for auction are two items, which were incredibly exciting to acquire:
1.) Johnny Marr - The Messenger LP - US Tour Exclusive, which is a very cool white vinyl edition that was only pressed in a limited quantity. It is new and still sealed. The corners are sharp and everything looks great.  2.) Johnny Marr - Upstarts single - Warner Bros. NVS 001 - "EVERYDAY REVOLUTION" / "REVOLUTION EVERYDAY" etched.  I love that he continues this tradition that was so popular during Smithdom. This single is autographed, and is in gorgeous, near-mint condition.  
I went and saw Johnny and some supporting acts at the Granada Theater in Dallas. I believe it was early November. He still included a lot of old stuff in his set list, including Stop Me, How Soon, Light, Please, etc. Like any other irrational loon wishing I had been born a Smith, I ended up stalking his tour bus outside in hope for a glimpse. After what had must been an hour, he came out of the bus, saw us all drooling and absorbing his beams of light, gave us all an alarmed and annoyed look then proceeded to walk back into the bus, stepping back out a few seconds later grinning. He's pretty goofy. Love his personality. After returning outside to the fanatics and sycophants in his (what appeared to be a) purple velvet blazer and some kick ass sneakers, he gave us all a curtsy and very willingly signed autographs, took photos, talked the shit. My phone had just died and I'm terribly unassertive, so I could never gut it up to ask someone else for a favor. A lot of people obsess about what to ask their idols and how profound the conversation needs to be -- this never works. I just told him I'm a huge vinyl collector. He asked me if I liked Wire. I asked him if he recalls getting rid of his 1983 Hand in Glove 7" test pressing. Blah blah blah. I shook his hand, vacuum-sealed mine forever, and the rest is history. I want to point out that I was very curious to get to know his manner and overall response to so much Smithdom still coming his way. I think it's very easy to get mixed messages from all the media's subjectivity, and a lot of that message tends to be that he's so completely over The Smiths, is only looking forward and only cares about his latest projects. This isn't the case at all. He is devout to his roots and embraces and respects everything they accomplished. Aside from his set list being packed with old material, it's really the way he responds to fans that were so affected by the band that gives it away. To me, he seemed more than willing to allow some nostalgia to hover around that evening. He is 0% douchebag, and is an incredibly great guy who doesn't turn a cheek to people who could only wish to speak with him just once for 5 seconds in their entire lives. Very engaging in conversation, in fact, which is challenging since the topic changes every 15 seconds. Very witty guy. Anyways...
