Description

Up for auction is a pristine copy of Johnny Hodges "Castle Rock" on Norgran Records, Cat# MGN - 1048.  This is an exceptional piece, as it is in Near Mint condition, both the jacket and the vinyl.  The laminate cover is nice and glossy, the back is clean.  All edges and corners are in perfect shape;  ;no splits, tears, bends, creases, marks or stains of any kind. The vinyl is self is clean and glossy.  There are no marks of any kind.  I would say that it appears unplayed, however, a few spindle marks are barely evident on the B-side label, indicating that side A at least, has been played.  The labels are clean and bright.  I would feel confident listing this as a complete "Mint", but I know that I would run the risk of someone finding something that I do not see, and there is no room for error when a "Mint" listing is issued, and it is not "brand new", so therefore the NM listing.  
A bit of history of this piece:  I purchased this LP in 1995.  I was working at a mom-and-pop record store, and the owner had just purchased a massive jazz collection from a serious collector who had been collecting for decades - there were thousands of LP's in total.  All the pieces in this collection were astounding - many were signed.  I was the youngest employee - the older gentlemen with whom I worked were very into jazz, and I had only a few pieces to speak of.  They knew what they were looking at, I did not.  The owner purchased the collection, and immediately had a buyer in Japan.  However, he allowed each of his employees to purchase 1 item from the collection before he packed it up.  I had no idea where to start, so my co-workers suggested this LP for me.  It has sat in my collection ever since - I never played it (as my co-workers advised me not to - they suggested getting a CD copy if i wanted to hear the album, which I did).
