Description
Johnny Ace - 'Memorial Album' - Duke DLP 71 Hi-Fi. LP that Duke released in 1956 after Ace's death in 1954. Classic sides with the bands of Johnny Otis and Johnny Board. Also features The Beale Streeters. This album cover does not include the playing card design. This is the more rare issue than the later 1961 LP with the playing card. Condition of disc is VG, almost VG+, with excellent gloss. Cover is VG- with transparent and black tape along bottom seam (see pic), 4 inches of transparent tape on left seam, and 3 inches of transparent tape on top seam. On the back cover is written in black Flair pen: "Property of WHAV LP2-1418." WHAV is in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and has been in business since 1947. A mint condition copy of this album runs c. $500. This is a good opportunity to get a lesser condition, but still very nice, copy.
