Description
1969 Action ACLP 6005 UK LP 'Action Packed Soul Vol 1'.
The sleeve has a laminated front which extends back onto and past the spine.
It's a solid sleeve yet with some creases, corner rubs, ringwear and faint residue of a removed price sticker. Also the plain back is grubby with some paper sticker blemishes and writing.
As such for condition I rate it 5 /10.
The flat disc still has a nice sheen to it and reads 151g on my scale so is of a nice medium weight.
Very nice clean and colourful labels with not much sign of play at the tight holes as noted by the absence of significant spindle 'spider' traces on the paper labels.
This is interesting; on the dead wax run-offs on the record are the machined matrices ACLP+6004+A & ACLP+6004+B. But the catalogue number for the album is 6005 for which the mistake was rectified (I guess at the plant) and so we have 6005 A & 6005 B hand inscribed after the stamped matrices.
Angling the disc under a bright and searching light I'm pleasantly surprised by its' fine looking condition. Sure there are some scuffs and light hairlines in evidence yet I believe these are mainly down to storage 'rash' whereby the disc has been living in its' inner sleeve (albeit poly-lined) for the past decades. My subjective rating for the visual condition then is 7.75 /10.
Play testing the record on my hi-fi I hear some clicks and a few pops which don't distract or detract from the listening experience so probably could do with a good clean. Soundwise then I rate the record 7.5 /10.
In summary therefore this is an example of a protected LP record for which the outer sleeve has taken the brunt of handling and storage over the years.
