Description

An original mono 1st press of 'Looking Back' on UK Decca. Matrix 1A/1A - 1st cut. Stampers 1G/1K - placing this copy amongst the first few thousand ever pressed. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. Also included is the original red and white inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with very slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Beautiful mono audio as you would expect from this quality Decca pressing. By and large a lovely clean player with excellent acoustics. All I could detect were a few minor crackles in, perhaps, one track per side [e.g. during "Mr James"]. And one click in the intro to 'Rain', but this tracks plays amazingly clean. Any background noticeable is not remotely invasive and will be nothing persistent. It's a blindingly good player.
Cover (Ex) A really well preserved cover. That front panel is looking very fine indeed. Shiny and flat like new - with precious little creasing. That front panel retains perfect rigidity. Ditto the rear. Just a couple of scuff marks on the rear down in the bottom left corner. The interior is immaculate - no signs of ageing, wear or deterioration at all. There's very little edge wear to speak of and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact - just a touch of fade right at the bottom end. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex) Beautifully preserved. No ageing. No splits.
