1968 UK 1st PRESS *MONO* LP
My listings a this week include an extensive collection of albums by the 'Godfather of the British Blues' scene - John Mayall.
His musical career spans fifty years and he has just released his 57th album. However, most notable period of his work ocurred during the late '60s, which is where most of this collection dates from.
He was the founder of John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and has been influential in the careers of many instrumentalists, including: Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Peter Green, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Mick Taylor, Don "Sugarcane" Harris, Harvey Mandel, Larry Taylor, Aynsley Dunbar, Hughie Flint, Jon Hiseman, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Andy Fraser, Johnny Almond, Jon Mark, Walter Trout, Coco Montoya, and Buddy Whittington. & his Bluesbreakers.
All discs in this collection have been put together by a single collector over many years and represent a rare opportunity to acquire most of his greatest LPs, all in outstanding condition.
This hard to find 1968 1st MONO pressing is on the unboxed, ungrooved red & silver Decca label: LK.4972
It is housed within an outer laminated 'Robert Stace' printed gatefold mono cover with no format indicator hole on the rear panel & spine.
Complete with its original poly-lined inner-sleeve.

A vibrant and clean pair with a collection of tiny spindle marks & light wear to each centre hole but no major faults.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Both delicate playing surfaces are perfectly clean & glossy with the only significant mark visible in strong daylight being a tiny 5mm blemish in the vinyl itself, which does not affect sound or play in any way. Close examination beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals a small number of harmless, wispy hairlines & sparkling rainbow shine, but nothing I would call a scratch.
Play: EXCELLENT
This carefully played and very well looked after copy bears no significant deterioration to the sound quality throughout or indeed has any major faults throughout.

A superb example of this deluxe gatefold with an clean, flat and unworn front leaf where all edges are sharp and undamaged. apart from a tiny bruise to the upper left corner, all are strong & square and with no tears to the delicate hinge area. The rear panel is equally impressive and retains it rich, high-gloss finish. the inside of the gatefold in bright & undamaged with no writing or missing paper anywhere. The spine is completely square, uncrushed and is fully worded.
