Description

WAIKIKI SURF BATTLE VOL 2
Ultra rare surf mono LP Sounds of Hawaii SH5014 Volume 2 "Waikiki Surf Battle" features a VERY RARE surf compilation that was recorded live at the WAIKIKI SHELL on September 14, 1963. It was a battle of 18 bands vying for the top spot. There was a total of 10,000 fans that saw the SPIEDELS win 1st prize. Other bands include the Royal Victors, Regents, Dukes, Vaqueros, Road Runners, Strollers, Judy & The Belmonts, Denny and the Dukes, Harmonics and the Bel-Aires. Really hot surf sounds from the early 60's recorded live at the peak of the surf sound craze.

CONDITION:

record: VG, some light surface marks not affecting play sleeve: EX, only slight edge wear

Please Note My Conservative Grading System:
I use the following grades:    M  (mint, new sealed records only get this grade),
NM  (totally flawless but opened record - many other dealers would call this "mint", I only differentiate when the record is not factory sealed),
EX (only very minor signs of use)
VG+  (a *high* grade from me, record may show minor signs of use, but is in overall great shape and should play free from defect),
VG  (record may have some minor surface marks, but nothing that should detract from the listenability),    VG-  (may have a number of surface marks and may play with some noise, but still listenable and a decent play copy)
G  (I rarely list anything with this grade unless it is highly rare and valued, may have many surface marks, but still playable without skipping)

I have over 20 years experience in record dealing and grade conservatively.

Addendum concerning overseas shipping since this is my most commonly asked question: The shipping price is as stated by ebay's shipping calculator on the auction page. Many overseas buyers are unaware that The United States Postal Service raised rates in January. Rates are significantly higher than they were last year. The cost is calculated by weight, which includes the sturdy heavy box and filler inserts I use to guarantee a safe trip overseas. The weight of the packaging unfortunately bumps the item into the higher cost of shipping bracket. The USPS no longer has a sea-mail shipping auction. The cost quoted is for standard airmail delivery and is actually the cheapest method available.
