Description
Up for sale is a first US MONO pressing of John Coltrane's epic masterpiece "A Love Supreme", released by Impulse in 1965. Catalogue no. A-77, famous Van Gelder pressing.
The super heavy laminated gatefold cover is glossy like on day one. There's a bit of corner wear but nothing major. Same for the spine. No creases, no ringwear, no laminate lifting, no seem splits. On the rear cover (which looks exactly like the front cover) there's a bit of wear on the opening side. Check out the pictures. This is just about the "worst" part of the cover, and it's still not bad at all.
Record Condition: VG+
This is a heavy mono pressing and it will sound excellent to near mint if played with a proper mono stylus. Can be played with a stereo cartridge as well but it's definitely not up to the performance of a true mono. Record sounds incredlible then. However, there are a few scuffs and scratches that do not affect the performance. That's the beauty of mono lp's as well -- they don't have to look near mint to sound near mint. This is not the best copy you will find out there but it sure is a very decent sounding one.
Innersleeve Condition: EX+
Record comes with the original innersleeve which basically looks like new. I would grade NM if it wasn't for a small split at the bottom. This happens all the time with these super fragile sleeves. Still, a very nice sleeve. I'll include an extra anti-static sleeve for the record.
