Description

Here is a genuinely rare record from my personal collection that I have had from new. Originally issued on Atlantic in USA this is the 1956 London American issue RE-E 1047. It is extended play 45 with two tracks on each side. Side one has the daddy of them all, Big Joe Turner with, 'Hide and Seek' and 'Midnight Cannonball' and Side 2 has the great Ruth Brown with, 'I can see everybody's baby' and 'Oh what a dream'.   The EP is aptly entitled, 'The King and Queen of Rhythm & Blues'. Four absolutely classic examples of the R&B of the 1950's. Using the conventional grading system, I would grade both sides as 'Very Good +' as there are a couple of  marks and some light surface noise that you would expect from a 50+  year old record.  However, the record plays very well without any pops, skips or jumps. It would probably be improved with a professional clean. As the photos show, the cover is also graded as in 'very good' condition with some discolouration of the back and for some reason there are two official 'GML' Purchase Tax stamps on the front probably put there because they wouldn't have shown up on the record label. These were on the cover when I bought the record. You may be interested in checking out what this rarity has sold for in the past.
