Jimi Hendrix Experience Axis:Bold as Love Original uk STEREO 1st pressing
90% Of this title sold as originals were mono, to find stereo is very difficult
This listing is for an original uk pressing in stereo of Axis:Bold as love.
It is presented in a laminated flip back gatefold picture sleeve printed by Ernest J Day, the inside centre panel is not laminated, the flip backs and front of the sleeve is.
The record is presented in a poly lined inner sleeve, it appears to be of the time but I have no idea if this is original.
I will not use the record collector grading system for this item as the detailed description (warts and all) will tell you far more than a simple very good or excellent will ever disclose.
The Cover: The colours are still vibrant, the laminate is glossy and there are no seam splits. The edges at the opening of the over are a little frayed and dented and each of the 4 corners are worn, it is very serviceable and shows no malicious damage, just the wear and tear of protecting the vinyl for the last 45 years.

The vinyl is still glossy and the labels are very respectable with no obvious spindle abuse, there are marks on both sides of the vinyl.
When playing the record for the first time is 40 years it produced lots of clicks, ticks and pops, the needle did however complete it’s journey through both sides without jumping on sticking, I only cleaned the vinyl with a damp cloth and on each of my three plays two things happened, firstly the sound improved markedly on each play and secondly the amount of debris coming out of the grooves continued.
This would suggest a couple of things, firstly is could certainly do with a professional clean and secondly the sound quality may improve after cleaning and after some more plays.
I used a very bright light to check the vinyl and there are marks on both sides, nothing that I could feel but as I have described they do not cause the record to jump, stick or skip.
I do not want you to think that this is not a great record to listen to because it is, there are however clicks and pops, more prevalent during the quiet tracks and before and after the songs. If you are not looking for cd quality and don’t mind some ticks and pops this could be the record for you.
