Description

An original 1st press of LITP on the UK Chrysalis label. Matrix 1/1/1/1. Etchings 'Porkie/Pecko' etc. Stampers 1-GD/1-GD/1-T/1-L. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original very 1st issue Book style heavy-card cover. These very 1st issue covers were constructed way way better than the later copies just a month or two later. The pockets inside the hardback cover acted as inner sleeves for the records. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex+/Ex+/Ex+/Ex-) In lovely condition and has clearly only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. A beautifully clean rendition which is essential to show off TULL at their finest. Intros and inbetweens are mostly silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Interference is [mostly] close to non-existent..certainly across the first three sides you'll do well to pick-out more than a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots. The only deviation, as alluded to in the above grading, is on side 4 [the live audio] which is not quite as clean as the rest of the LP. Expect a few light crackles here and there - nothing remotely invasive. By and large a cracking rendition which shows of TULL's catalogue to full effect!
Cover (Ex-) Well, this is the much sought after true 1st issue cover and I can perfectly understand why collectors might hanker after this version. The manufacturing quality is light-years better than what was on offer just a couple of months later. A beautiful and very solid hardback cover. Lovely clean front and back without obvious signs of wear to the surfaces. All the interior pages seem to be fully intact and held in securely by the staples. They don't to have been heavily used and remain in good order. All I can make out is a slight amount of handling wear in one or two spots. One of the two pockets is perfectly preserved with no splits. The other has succumbed as nearly all copies do..to a split along the bottom edge. Edge wear seems to be light for the most part, bit it does appear to have taken a knock to the top-left edge - but nothing major or all that noticeable. The spine is in very impressive form pretty much 100% intact without wear. Overall a very impressive example of this hard to find true 1st issue.
