Description
Jackie McLean "The New Tradition" original LP, Ad Lib # 6601, mono 1955
This auction is for an original copy of the extremely rare jazz album "The New Tradition" by Jackie McLean. Rarest of the rare hard bop albums, this is the real deal. Sesssion features Donald Byrd on trumpet, Mal Waldron on piano, Douglas Watkins on bass, and Ronald Tucker on drums. Record has the deep groove red and black Ad Lib label with "SAMPLE COPY" stamped on both sides and RVG etched in dead wax. Record was obtained from lifelong collector with many other rare 50s jazz albums. Vinyl is VG++ condition with a few minor sleeve scuffs on each side and one rather long sleeve scuff on side A ( when I found the record the inner sleeve had been folded over for probably 30+ years creating this mark) that does not affect play. I played the record twice through and it plays great, nice and quiet between songs, but noticed a couple of pops on each side, nothing overpowering though. Labels are NM with "SAMPLE COPY" stamped on both sides, otherwise perfect. Jacket is NM with no splits, nice strong corners, and very little storage wear. There are two "SAMPLE COPY" stamps on back and a very small spot of wear on middle of front bottom. Please see photo below. A super nice copy of this very hard to find jazz album. Serious bidders only please. Will ship well packed in cardboard record mailer.
Please see my other auctions for more original 50s and 60s jazz albums.
