Description
JACKIE McLEAN Quintet The New Tradition Ad Lib LP 6601 1st Pressing 1956 DG RVG w/o Cover
You're bidding on one of the Holy Grails of collectible Jazz-Hard Bop LP's featuring the JACKIE McLEAN Quintet.
This is his 1st album titled: The New Tradition. It was issued on Ad Lib Records ADL 6601 in 1956. Ad Lib was a
extremely small New York label that only issued two albums and, reportedly, they only pressed 300 to 500 copies
of this LP making this a very hard record to find. It's a Deep Groove pressing with F90P-9344-1 (or 9345-1) 1A
machine stamped along with ADL-6601-A (or B) RVG 24H hand written in the run-out groove. The Record is in
VG++ condition with a few light surface lines and marks and 2 or 3 tiny scratches. It plays beautifully with
No groove wear distortion and only a few soft pops throughout. The A-Side label must have gotten wet which
caused some streaks and stains and some discoloration around the spindle hole. The B-Side label is fine.
Unfortunately, the Cover is missing and the LP is housed in a thick paper sleeve with a rice paper lining.
This Album was later issued with a different title on the Jubilee Label in 1958 but if you like collecting Rare Original
1st Pressing Jazz LP's, than This is for You !
