Description

Hi, I am Mike, I am 46 and have been a music collector and enthusiast for over 33 years now. We all wish we could turn back the clock and buy those wonderful brand new records from the 60s and 70s, but alas, this is not possible; so I always try to offer the finest and most accurately described and graded records I can find. No vinyl/music lover really would choose to buy second-hand, but this is only way now to own these valuable, prized and ellusive items now. I pride myself on offering a variety of genres to keep my site as interesting as possible. I will rarely offer any record that falls below a true Excellent grading, unless its of a certain rarity which will justify offering a lesser grade. I try, to the best of my ability to describe as accurately and as honesty as I can all items I offer for sale with all the relevant information I can think of to help any potential bidder and collector. You may notice I only submit records sparingly on Ebay - on average ONEADAY, hence the name - time rarely allows for more as I Play-Grade virtually every record I offer in their entirity, not just bits to guess a grade (on a Rega 3 deck with Ortofon cartridge) - visuals alone do not always tell a true or full story - I will mention any defects or flaws no matter how small that I notice to be fair as possible to any interested reader – I am very fussy and my buyers have the right to be too. Every record I offer, whether it be a common or rare item deserves the same respect as far as I am concerned and will be treated the same - just because an item is rare does not always mean its good. I get just as much pleasure offering a relatively common record in stunning near mint condition as the real rare items. All the pictures I use for your guidance are taken with a digital camera or scanned - they are NOT improved, cleaned-up or made better looking than they are with camera trickery or enhancing with digital programmes. What you see is what you get. The only thing I cannot guarantee one hundred percent is exact colour matching - this depends on the lighting at the time and that is out of my control, but I feel sure most items will be very close to the actual real item. Variation can sometimes occur too in colour of the label scans and labels taken next to the sleeve with a digital camera, the scanned full label pictures should be the most accurate. If any picture I take looks more flattering than the actual item for any reason, I will clearly state the fact in the advert. I hope the item below is to your liking - any questions can be emailed and I will do my very best to answer you. I am enthusiastic , and have a fair degree of knowledge about many genres and I promise quality items - bid with confidence - excellence comes as standard and so does Near Mint regularly. Please assume all records I offer have NO jumps or sticks or writing on covers or labels unless clearly stated to the contrary. Thanks for your interest and Good luck – MIKE.

Please Note: I will now offer any item to the runner-up after the mandatory Ebay 3 days if no contact is made by the winning bidder. The same applies if no payment is received within the mandatory 7 days so any bidder who has just lost out can still email me to reserve the item as priority second chance. Item wants are always welcome - email me with anything needed, you never know - I may just have a copy in stock. I by quality single items and collections also (Email me please if you have quality items for sale).

Debutant Bidders: Many sellers refuse first time buyers: I do not follow this practice (everybody has to start somewhere), but I would appreciate any first timer letting me know their intentions of their intended payment method and very prompt communication, preferably before any bid or soon after the auctions ends. This gives confidence that their intentions are honourable, and I in return guarantee extra special good feedbacks to get zero rated Ebayers off to a flying start to help them with future transactions. NOTE: I WILL NOT ACCEPT BIDS FROM UNREGISTERED USERS, I will cancel them immediately, and sorry, I cannot give valuations on people’s personal items just for their own curiosity, no item can be accurately valued blindly.

Please read all the information carefully - these adverts take an age to compile properly - so it’s well worth a few minutes of your time to read the details thoroughly. I really cannot take any responsibility if any bidder fails to read any facts that are clearly stated in the advert - Thankyou.

Artist or Band: JUICY LUCY

Album Title: Juicy Lucy

Track Listing: Mississippi Woman; Who Do You Love; She’s Mine She's Yours; Just One Time; Chicago North-Western; Train; Nadine; Are You Satisfied?

Cat Number: VO2 847 901 VTY Stereo (not issued in mono).

Label and Condition: Vertigo Spiral. Full spiral format on side one and large spiral above centre hole on side two. Beautiful clean examples that show only light spindle traces. There is zero wear around the centre hole which is even a more accurate guide to the number of plays. This retains a very snug fit around my Rega spindle and all clues point to a record with very modest plays. (Please see label scans for all information needed).

Country of Manufacture: England, UK

Rarity: Scarce now and being one of the best Vertigo albums with the stunning cover, this one is always sort after.

Genre Type: Progressive blues/rock

Original Year of Release: 1969

Matrix Nos: 847901 1Y A1 420 1 1 3 and 2Y 2 420 1 1 3

Brief Artist & Album Info: One of the earliest, the second infact (VO2), on this famous and collectable progressive label. Boasting too one of the very best and (in)famous covers on Spiral, and in rock history - this is always one of my most requested albums, for a late 60s album, this is as risqué as covers got (with the exception of Jimi’s Electric Ladyland). Solid, earthy blues-rock featuring a supreme version of Bo Diddley’s ‘Who do you Love’ (also covered by The Doors on Absolutely Live). This copy on offer features a super record that plays to a stunning high standard and comes in its original spiral inner. The cover, always so prone to wear, is superb and would grade as one of the best I have ever seen. All serious collectors want ‘Juicy’ with a minimum EX cover, well this one goes further, I confidently grade this one at EX++ and maybe its even undergraded at that. This prized cover and record should please even the most critical of spiral and prog collectors. – Mike.

Cover Condition and Details: EX++ minimum - take into account of its fragility I think a Mint(-) would not be inappropriate. Its a gatefold format and this one has the original WARNING — Copyright subsists in all Vertigo recordings. etc inside the gatefold. The top right back corner has VO 2 847 901 VTY text. A very attractive example that will take a huge amount of beating. Being totally unlaminated with rich dark inks this is usually found rubbed, faded or heavily ringworn - not this one, this ranks highly as one of the best Spiral covers I have yet offered. Few were ever laminated - Uriah Heep’s debut and Black Sabbath’s Master of Reality were two exceptions. One for the connoisseur and its always nice to offer one of rock’s best covers in such fine condition.

Cover Front: Very attractive, with little to fault for this one, a faint rub trace on the black near the very top, odd tiny surface mark maybe but little else. Rich, deep colour without any fading or wear and very clean too. Virtually crease-free, odd faint hairline one here and there near edges and attractive with the odd light surface mark but not even a hint of ringwear and that is unusual for this one. Lucy rarely looked much better than here.

Cover Back: Pretty much a carbon copy of the front, tiny rub traces at top but no pressmarks or ringwear.

Cover Gatefold Inner: Virtually mint, completely unworn and attractive.

Top Edge: Faint, very light rub traces only.

Bottom Edge: Very, very light rub traces - hardly anything really.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, razor sharp with virtually zero wear, no feathering whatsoever. Record entered on right outside back edge.

Spine and Text: Solid and square with little wear, text is near perfect and unworn which again can be considered quite unusual for this one.

Corners: Most show little wear at all and are still superbly shaped with a clear 90 degree angle. Mildish rubbing on the bottom left of the spine but all the others are around the best I have seen for this delicate cover.

Cover Summary: A magnificent all round example of this highly fragile late 60’s cover, one that could prove very difficult to find significantly better. This strong item should please most collectors, even the serious Vertigo collectors.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: Mint(-) A superb copy with just the odd faint surface trace, but look hard to find any - anything is superficial and nothing sounds. Super clean and shiny, and jet black and pressed on very robust vinyl. A copy with minimal plays on all the evidence. Visually a very nice record that should please just about all again.

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This super record plays up to its high visual grading with little to fault. Strong, undistorted sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear, this album has fantastic dynamics and punch and made my Rega really sing. No pops or ticks from memory and a fine pressing, any surface sounds are minimal indeed and almost nil on the musical parts, the odd light surface sound was noted between a couple of the tracks on the linking grooves, just to remind you that this IS a record. Both channels are clean and clear, I feel very sure this record has been played very lightly and has been well stored and looked after, almost certainly in a non-smoking environment as there is no discolouration to the cover or indeed the inner. Little, if anything spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this classic. This copy will prove near impossible to find significantly better. The original spiral lined inner is in lovely shape (EX+), it is clean and very white for its age, Spiral inners always seem to tone most around the gum areas but this is almost devoid of this. The inner lining is fully intact and clear and sharp around the pristine central window. Some light and minor ruffling only stops this inner being near mint but many would say it is anyway.

Album Played For Grading: Yes.

Final Summary: Being one the of the very first Spirals is not the only reason this album is so sort after, its simply a brilliant album and with the stunning packaging makes it extra special. Vertigo was a progressive label set up in 1969, never really intended for huge commercial success and mass market appeal, variety and experimentation was what it was all about with some bands only making a single album. Indeed some bands and artists found on this highly collectable label can be described as average at best. Juicy Lucy certainly were never that, this early example is a progressive/blues classic and its popularity remains high and justifiably so. It could be a long wait before a much better copy of this one becomes available, hearing a copy with such clarity and true hi-fi sound was a real experience. I hope the winning bidder enjoys as much as I did - dont think about losing this one and good luck – Mike.

Having the Powerseller Logo: This is recognition from Ebay for the highest possible customer services, satisfaction and quality, it should reassure any potential bidder that all items are described, graded and shipped to the highest standards possible. Customer care of the highest order is a standard feature here and I am proud to have achieved this recognised standard of excellence from Ebay with help from collectors and buyers from all over the World - I thank you all.
