Description

The Recorded Violin
Offered is one of the great elusive recorded gems of the great Joseph Joachim: J.S. Bach's Prelude in G Minor for Solo Violin.
This is an exceptionally rare GT&T Gramophone Monarch in good condition for its age.   The grading is V+ and this is based on play grading
Condition notes: Like GT&T's in V+ condition, there is surface noise.  Fortunately, there are no notable issues otherwise: no distracting scratches, greying or notable distortion for this grading.   Please note, I am an archivist/historian and professional seller.   The disc is offered as is/sold as is
Note, this is more than an exceptional historical disc.
One of Joachim's great musicological triumphs was establishing the critical interest in and revival of  The Sonatas and Partitas for Violin BWV 1001-1006 by Johann Sebastian Bach.
In this performance, the practice of minimal vibrato and clarity of tone completely anticipates the performance practices of leading 1950s Baroque period performance champion, Roman Totenberg.
When one listens to this wonderful performance, you are immediately reminded of Totenberg  and his later authentic instruments' contemporaries, Sigiswald Kuijken and Reinhold Goebel.
It is with great honor and pleasure that I offer this outstanding historic recorded gem of The Recorded Violin.
* Please contact me with any questions.     As a musician historian/archivist and professional dealer, this disc will be packaged with utmost quality of care for transport world wide*
