VARIOUS ARTISTS – A Factory Sample ORIG Factory Records 7” Double Pack // FAC-2 (UK, Stereo, 1978)
Happy to present a well looked after original copy of this most iconic of post Punk releases, the very first release on Manchester’s Factory label featuring Joy Division’s first output for the label as well as sides from Durutti Column, Cabaret Voltaire and John Dowie. ALL 5 ORIGINAL STICKERS ARE PRESENT AND IN FANTASTIC CONDITION.
The gatefold, silver paper sleeve is in a pleasing condition, a lot better than many. There are no splits in the plastic outer sleeve and no tears to the inner paper. As with most surviving examples, there is evidence of handling in the form of light creases to the front and the rear. Again, virtually unavoidable, there is light (and I mean light) ring impression throughout. NO writing, rips, staining. The plastic cover has not dulled too much and remains 100% intact. Overall, a genuine VG+ (Very Good Plus), some would consider excellent example.
Both record labels are in excellent condition with hardly any spindle evidence, NO writing, stickers or other damage. The silver print remains vivid.
The stickers are pretty much in M (Mint) condition. These are the 4-sticker contact sheet, all perfectly intact and unused with satisfying sharp corners and NO creasing. The same can be said for the individual Factory Records ‘hearing protection’ sticker – absolutely perfect really, with NO nicks, tears or loss of glue. A brilliant set of these important stickers!
The 2 vinyl records, which play at 33 rpm, have barely seen much use and are in SUPERB shape. There are NO scratches, hairlines or scuffing of ANY description on either disc. They maintain a fantastic shine and show no dimples, craters or embedded dirt. Visually they must grade M- (Mint Minus) and look pretty much as they did when first purchased at the end of 1978. BOTH DISCS HAVE BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and I can safely report play without hindrance. So expect NO snap, crackle, loud pops, NO repeated clicks or hiss and NO distortion, groove wear or loss of clarity/lack of definition. All I picked up was the occasional soft tick and hardly any of those. Certainly nothing to impair your enjoyment of this most important, landmark record.
Overall, a fine example and COMPLETE with its original plastic bag, silver sleeve and all 5 stickers. I’ve separated the records from the fragile sleeve and placed in brand new paper sleeves. This is how the package will be shipped to avoid any damage in transit. Don’t miss this!
