Description
Holy Grail Coltrane. The product is a vinyl LP edition 1 of John Coltrane's album "Ascension" released by Impulse! Van Gelder. The record is in mono format and has a 12" size. It falls under the jazz genre and is described as being in very good plus (VG+) condition. I would visually rate the vinyl a very conservative VG, but the Vinyl has minor scratches not heard during playback (hence the VG+). The jacket shows water staining and some imperfections (see pics). This collectible piece of music history offers a classic listening experience for jazz enthusiasts and fans of Coltrane's iconic music.
- All unsealed records are professionally cleaned on an ultrasonic record cleaning machine using high quality (alcohol-free) concentrated solution.
- Unless sealed, LPs are shipped with the record outside of the cover (but in its inner sleeve) to prevent seam-splitting. (Please indicate if you would like sealed LP to be opened prior to ship.
- All vinyl is visually and conservatively graded under strong artificial light.
I grade conservatively using the Goldmine grading scale. There is no such thing as a "mint" record, near mint (NM) is my highest grade. Grades are a visual representation of the playing surfaces.
NM > VG++ > VG+ > VG > VG- > G+ > Good > Poor
NM - Playing surfaces will look new with no sings of mishandling. Possibly unplayed.
VG++ - At most a few minor imperfections that have little to no effect on play. Possibly unplayed as well.
VG+ - Still a great-looking record with slightly more imperfections that may add some background noise in parts.
VG - Even more imperfections that may add some background noise in parts.
VG-/G+/G/P - I won't sell too many LPs that fall into these grades, but there will be a progression downwards from VG depending upon the severity of the damage. These LPs will be play-tested at least in part to ensure they don't skip.
Sometimes the two sides of a record will grade differently. I will grade it accordingly in those situations, e.g. if side 1 is VG++ & side 2 is VG+ I would mark it VG++/VG+.
Covers follow the same grading scale.
