Description
Title:Brahms-Concerto In D-Major op.77 For Violin And Orchestra.Paul Kletzki conducting the Philarmonia Orchestra,Johanna Martzy playing violin.Original mono UK-pressing from 1955 on the darkblue COLUMBIA label, golden lettering,33CX 1165.Low matrix stampers(3):XAX 525-3N and XAX 524-3N.One of the most beautiful recordings in classical music ever.I also offer the 2nd reference recording of this composition by Klemperer/Oistrakh on Columbia SAX 2411 in this auction!
Condition:the record has a shiny surface and looks simply brilliant and clean, each side has one tiny, superficial micro-hairline,barely to be seen and not affecting the sound.Three times I have listened carefully to the record from the beginning to the end,it plays in beautiful mint-/ex+++ for most of the time. There is an occasional slightest background/surfacenoise behind the music in a few of the quieter parts and some real soft tics. But even the several quieter parts and Mrs.Martzy’s solo-parts are free of that and play in mint-/ex+++.There are no spindle-marks on the labels. The original poly lined inner sleeve is included, the record is stored in a new deluxe inner-sleeve.This copy is definitely in a respectable, pleasant and satisfying shape-it is very hard to find better sounding original 50ies Columbia pressings in completely mint conditions-even if they look so,they mostly don’t play as such on the whole-that’s why I give you a detailed playgrading. The fully laminated sleeve has intact seams and a bright surface, the front-lamination has peeled off a bit in some parts at the opening (some mm only),the back is close to be beeing perfect,ex(+).
Grading:I have cleaned the record 3 times with L’art Du Son fluid on a prof.record cleaning machine.I played the whole record between each cleaning, either on a Rega Planar 9 with Rega Super Elys moving magnet stylus or on a Linn Axis with an Audio-Technica moving coil stylus.(Sorry-I don’t have a mono cartridge!).I also graded the record visually under a strong light. My basic gradings are:mint-ex-vg.
Please watch my other items!I have placed some nice vintage classical LPs and boxsets (50ies up to 80ies digital)on Ebay USA,UK & Germany, including some rare 50ies UK-Columbias(MARTZY,CALLAS...).I also offer many audiophile records and CDs(classical, jazz, pop, blues, indian etc.) in outstanding conditions(all being unplayed, most of them beeing factory sealed!),several recommended on the TAS- or other reference-lists.A lot of them are already “out of print”.The 26 CDs are first on my list, all 60 items from then on are vinyls! You might have to be signed in on the Ebay-sites of the different countries to watch all 86 items!
