NOMAD WOMAN / FREE AT LAST (GREAT DAY A-COMIN’) Golden World 103.
Original copy which, like all original copies of this incredibly rare record, it’s not that well pressed, the levels being very low on the mastering. Nevertheless, the a side is a stunning, intense ‘Gypsy Woman’-like mid-tempo monster, b-side is a civil rights tune, riffing off Martin Luther King’s speeches.
Two totally awesome tunes, just a shame they were not better pressed (the b-side is available on the same label as by James Barnes & the Agents, just better pressed, and with an accompanying instrumental version on the flip). I will be selling a copy of this when i find my copy, so watch this space.
But it’s brilliant the A-side that makes this record so desirable, form the under-recorded and passionately loved (by those in the know) Jock Mitchell. bid with confidence, as all my records can be returned for a full credit if not entirely satisfied. NEAR MINT COPY.
On 31-Aug-11 at 13:39:49 BST, seller added the following information:I've found my copy of the James Barnes seven (Golden Hit 101) that is exactly the same as the b-side with a intstrumental on it's b-side. I'm going to throw that in with this tune to whoever wins it.... Shame the Jock seven was so poorly pressed as it is a killer. This way the winner gets Jock's Nomad Woman (which is fine to listen to, just not mastered very loudly) and the James Barnes, as the Free At Last side is not so good on the Jock pressing (which is why the record is so bloody rare, I guess). That way you'll get all the music, plus an instrumental, in an enjoyable state.
PLEASE NOTE I MADE A MISTAKE A WROTE GOLDEN WORLD 103 in original description, as you can clearly see in the photo it's Golden Hit 103 that is for sale.
