Description
THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
Pressed in Germany in 1963 for EXPORT only, this special edition of The Beatles' debut album was most commonly found for sale at U.S. Army bases.
It was cut in Germany from the UK mastertapes and bears a gold-rimmed red & white Odeon label: ZTOX 5550
Matrix numbers: SHZE-117 A-1 & SHZE-117 B-1
Disc weight: 160g
Housed in a heavy card German printed cover with glossy front panel and pasted rear panel.
Complete with its original Odeon advertising inner-sleeve depicting contemporary 'pop' albums on one side & classical releases on the other.

A superb vibrant set with just minor blemishes to the delicate gold edge print and some barely visible spindle trails, but no writing or missing paper anywhere.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Extremely clean and unworn playing surfaces which apart from a few light hairlines display no major marks or wear in strong daylight. Closer examination some wispy paper-type hairlines and a few light surface scuffs but nothing major or 'feelable'. Both sides of this well looked-after copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: VERY GOOD
This rare disc has received a fair amount of play but plays without any major deterioration to the overall sound quality. My single careful play-check at volume detected a little light background during some of the quieter passages and a occasional touch of playwear, but no heavy clicks, jumps, repeats or any other major audible faults or distractions.
Cover: VERY GOOD +
A strong and glossy example of this rare cover which retains a superb unrubbed and undamaged high-gloss front laminate with just a tiny area of wear just below the upper edge of the top left corner. All corners are clean and unbumped and both opening edges are undamaged. The rear panel is clean and unblemished with slight age-toning but no writing or missing paper. Both seams and the fully worded spine are all smooth, unstressed & unsplit.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Clean & complete with minor storage wrinkling to the lower left corner but no writing, tears or seam splits.
