Years ago I was obsessed with the music of JJ Cale (I still am, but to a much lesser extent now that I'm working all the time). I had the privilege in 2004, to travel along with his band on his US tour from Vermont to Arizona. During this time, I had many wonderful opportunities to hang out with the man, and enjoy many of his shows in a way I wish all true fans could really witness.
I've also been collecting JJ Cale memorabilia for ages (since my late teens - I'm 25 now) and had brought many items along on the trip to show, and have autographed. I've told myself I would never let any of them go, but as time, and life has taken it's toll (yea, 25 year old sob story? not quite..) and I've decided to be a gypsy/traveller/couchsurfer for a living.. I need to dispose of all my physical items. Hence.. I will be eBaying my JJ Cale items.. well, most of them (keeping a few special ones for myself, of course! :))
My credentials are many. I'm good friends with Gary allen, Cale's drummer in the 80's, and Rocky Frisco, Cale's current keyboard player, from Tulsa, OK. Also, being on the 2004 tour, which is when the JJ Cale documentary, "On Tour with J.J. Cale: To Tulsa and Back" on Kick Film/Time Life was released, I was in the background of some of the footage shot during the tour. Somehow, that claimed my name in the credits (I'm impressed!) in the same column as Eric Clapton. Woo ;) (Proof of credit: IMDb). Oh, and I also created and sparsely as of late, maintain the JJ Cale Fan Network at JJCale.net.
Today I am auctioning off a piece of Rock 'n' Roll History - the original audition record J.J. Cale cut of a fast-paced "After Midnight". This record was introduced to Eric Clapton in the late 60's by Delaney. This was the version Eric Clapton heard when he recorded his rock induced, fast paced "After Midnight" for his debeut, self titled solo album just after leaving Delaney and Bonnie.This record was recently talked about BY Eric Clapton AND JJ Cale in at least one German interview. For those familiar with J.J. Cale's music, this is a different version of the song than they've heard on his debut album "Naturally", which carried Cale's now-famous "laid back" and mellow style of guitar playing. This was a demo, basically only given to friends and colleauges to share. It was never sold and can only be found on VERY rare occasion. I've been collecting Cale records for about 10 years and have only found two or three of these for sale.

THIS RECORD IS NOT AUTOGRAPHED LIKE THE OTHER ONE!!! I have THREE versions of this up, one is autographed, and two have different labels.
The back side of this record has a fun song called "Slow Motion", which Cale slows his voice down to sound slower, and deeper and then puts it over the music. It's quirky and fun.
