"Rainbow Bridge was a free, un-promoted Jimi Hendrix concert in a horse pasture, 3000 feet up the slope of Mt. Haleakala on the island of Maui in Hawaii.
A modest audience of a few hundred island hippies, surfers, and students showed up because it was rumoured that Hendrix might play a free concert for a movie that Chuck Wein was directing.
This show on Maui was the last recorded Hendrix concert in the U.S. Some people mistakenly claim that this was the last live show Hendrix did in the U.S., but Hendrix actually did one more show in Honolulu - August 1, 1970, before his death on September 18, 1970 in London
A bootleg recording of the concert (mostly songs from the second show) was made, which was called "Incident at Rainbow Bridge." This phrase was stamped in blue on a white record jacket, and the record itself was made of transparent yellow vinyl."
The album plays OK, however, as the recording is live, the sound quality is a bit wooly.
Hendrix's guitar work is superb !!!
