Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 UK albums that I have accumulated over a period of more than 45 years or more! This is the earliest possible 1st UK Pressing of Jethro Tull "Aqualung " album released in 1977 very scarce and collectable to find in this tip top condition! The audio quality is absolutely stunning through out this album , in fact I dought that you will find a better sounding vinyl. The audio is graded as very near mint cristal clear and very, very vibrant through out, minor light static to mention in between tracks only.. There are no needle scratches or marks that would cause any loud annoying constant clicks or pops on this vinyl. The original 1st issue un- laminated E.J.Day & Co printed cover is also in exceptional tip top condition being stored in a case with the vinyl removed and separated from the cover for protection, This is how I have always stored my records! Cover is also graded at least better than excellent to Excellent plus in my opinion! A very collectable and sought after album especially in this condition!

Aqualung is the fourth studio album by the rock band Jethro Tull. Released in 1971,
Aqualung, despite the band's disagreement, is regarded as a concept album featuring a central theme of "the distinction between religion and God".
The album's "dour musings on faith and religion" have marked it as "one of the most cerebral albums ever to reach millions of rock listeners".
Aqualung's success marked a turning point in the band's career, who went on to become a major radio and touring act.
Recorded at Island Records' studio in London, it was their first album with John Evan as a full-time member, their first with new bassist Jeffrey Hammond and last album featuring Clive Bunker on drums. Something of a departure from the band's previous work, the album features more acoustic material than previous releases; and—inspired by photographs of homeless people on the Thames Embankment taken by singer Ian Anderson's wife Jennie—contains a number of recurring themes, addressing religion along with Anderson's own personal experiences.
Aqualung has sold more than seven million units worldwide according to Anderson, and is thus Jethro Tull's best selling album.
The album was generally well-received critically, and has been included on several music magazine "best of" lists. The album spawned two singles, "Hymn 43" and "Locomotive Breath"
After an American tour in 1970, bass player Glenn Cornick was fired from the band, and was replaced with Jeffrey Hammond, an old friend of Ian Anderson's.
Aqualung would be the first recording Hammond would do with the band.
It would also mark the first time John Evan had recorded a full album with the band, as his only prior involvement was to overdub several keyboard parts on the previous album, Benefit. The album was one of the first to be recorded at the newly opened studios of Island Records in Basing Street, London. Led Zeppelin were recording their untitled fourth album at the same time. In an interview on the 25th anniversary edition of the album, Tull's bandleader Ian Anderson said that trying to record in that studio was very difficult, because of its "horrible, cold, echoey" feel.
\ There were two recording studios at the location; Led Zeppelin worked in the smaller studio while Tull got the larger, which was the main body of a converted church. The orchestrals were arranged by David Palmer, who had worked with the band since 1968's This Was, and would later join as a keyboard player. Aqualung would be the last Jethro Tull album to include Clive Bunker as a band member, as he retired shortly after recording to start a family.

The Vinyl
This is the original thicker , heavier chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest original pressings! (Later press are much more flimsier and less robust)!
The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warps. The vinyl has retained its original sheen from new in my opinion. On close inspection any marks that could possibly be seen would be very light sleeve removal/scuffs only but importantly no audio sounding marks or needle marks that would cause any loud clicks or pops that I heard at all!
The audio quality
I have played this track for track at very loud volume prior to listing at very loud volume two times! From the moment that the needle hits the playing surface , it is obvious that this vinyl has not been over played in my opinion! The audio is stunning cristal clear and vibrant, very bright and clear throughout without any signs of distortion at all and plays with a lovely deep bassey feel only found like this on earliest pressings! Note: Please allow for some light static that may be heard in between tracks only. I would grade the audio very near as mint in my opinion! (I don't think that you will find better very rich and vibrant through out)
Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for isolated static/crackle/ticks only, and not consistent through out the audio. Please remember that this is a genuine 45 year old record that would have originally been played on a 45 year old system.
The Labels
These are the original Chysalis labels, earliest features the White 'I' logo (see photos) The labels are rich in colour and are very clean , all text is fully readable. Spidering can be seen when angled to the light. This has obviously been played but certainly not overplayed in my opinion. The spindle hole is perfectly round!
The Record Sleeve
This is the original 1st issue picture & Lyric internal flipback insert record sleeve no splits or tares, Light creasing/yellowing with age only "Made In England" Note: There is some tape residue on the bottom edge. This is the original!
The Cover
This Is The Original 1st UK issue textured Un- laminated 'E.J.Day & co Ltd' printed gate fold cover in absolutely stunning condition through out, concidering this is 45 years old! Clean and very straight in appearance. No splits or tares. all text is readable! There is No real nasty rubbing/storage wear Very, very rare! no real nasty creases to report, any ther are, you have to look to notice. . Any indents or marks on this cover you have to look to notice.Note: Only when looked at angled to the light I see a slight line of glue residue on the front top, but not really noticed unless looked for in my opinion. The cover has always been seperated from the vinyl and sleeve since purchased from new! The rear is also very clean indeed! The spine is square Unbeleivably rare like this! Graded at least excellent to excellent plus in my opinion!
