The band began life as The Whisperers, and there are rumoured to be some rare bootlegs floating around, though I’ve yet to actually hear one ... they then changed their name to Churchill’s Hermits, to Judaic Churchill’s, then to The Churchills [where they had a series of singles], to Jericho Jones [when they moved to the U.K.], and finally shortening it to just Jericho, opening for such huge bands of the days as Deep Purple.  Yes the group has roots in Israel, and donning a band name associated with religion has always been a turn off for me, causing me to wonder what I was being suckered into ... but never fear, you seem to be on safe ground here.  Members floated in and out for various reasons, and several of them were extraordinarily skillful musicians, especially considering that they were playing at 13 and 15 years of age, developing an exotic psychedelic fuzzed guitar sound, before establishing themselves with an esoteric progressive heavy rock format that become their signature. 

If memory and my ears still serve me, The Churchills became effects driven, and wonderfully so, using effects such as an oscillator to fill in and flesh out their songs, instead of just laying in effects to make the music thick.  The songs of Jericho could be urgent, solid and blistering, their guitar playing unchallenged, and in the same light they understood the nature of drawing the listener in, whispering softer songs that combined and meshed the introspective elements of the progressive rock sequences that would bring them fame.  To make comparisons is rather pointless, except to say that if you dig Hawkwind, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, or even Flash, you’re gonna find enough here to purify your soul. One of those rare obscure finds which also present fantastic quality!!

So, so hard to find this JERICHO JONES album. I am very happy to be able to present this fantastic and ULTRA rare album as a proper first UK press. This will be a great first acquisition and a top copy for the discerning prog collector!!! The vinyl looks only lightly played and is in top condition.

 IT WILL BE A LONG TIME BEFORE THIS TURNS UP AGAIN IN THIS SPLENDID CONDITION WITH AGAIN MORE TAKERS THAN EVER BEFORE. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT INVESTMENT PIECE.

Vinyl: EX.  Looks barely played at all!! Barely any spindle traces.The audio is fantastic and this vinyl sounds out of this world, a majestic album that went largely unnoticed with poor distribution. Only a few hundred were ever pressed up on this label. The audio has beautiful separation and there is barely any background noise. I played this twice in full and thoroughly enjoyed it. A tiny mark of 3mm on track 2 side 1 resulting in 4 low level clicks. Otherwise nothing untoward safe from the usual paper sleeve retraction traces only visible under an intense light which any vinyl has. In normal daylight it looks totally flawless. Played in full on my Linn Sondek/ Rotel/B&W set-up. Needless to say NO jumps, sticks, clicks or ticks. The audio of this recording is simply outstanding and will be an upgrade to most collectors. Wow!!

  Sleeve: EX+. "Printed by Howard Printers (Slough) Ltd." gatefold sleeve without any damage or creases. An ultra vulnerable matt sleeve which would be hard to find in any condition at all. This is only the second time I have ever seen this ultra rare album. The spine is still 100%  legible and the opening is super crisp. Remarkably the storage wear on the top and bottom edges is extremely minimal. The inside gatefold is a stunning NM and looks totally untouched. It must be impossible to find this album in such great condition. There is a small price sticker deposit towards the top right which would be easily removable, this is NOT a tear. NO writing, NO splits, NO tears etc. The pictures tell all.

This is a unique investment opportunity!!! The next prog album to go completely through the roof. The chance of finding this album in any condition at all is negligible so late in the day. Finding it in this splendid condition will prove nearly impossible!! Get this while you still can. This value of the album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price.
