Description
From the archive of noted James Brownj historian, Alan Leeds.
Incredibly rare....very few of these metallic acetate master references were cut. Few survived as most were eventually scrapped.
UNISSUED in this form, this is a collection of 3 tracks from a February, 1973, recording session in Washington,D.C backed by The J.B.'s including Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker and John "Jabo" Starks.
MIND POWER appears on one side as "Full Length" and on the other side divided into Parts 1 & 2, ostensibly proposed singles edits. A 12 minute version appeared on "The Payback" album but the song never appeared as a single.
WORLD OF SOUL wasn't released until an edit appeared on the "Make It Funky" CD compilation years later. A few months after this session, Brown re-recorded the song for his "Slaughter's Big Rip-Off" soundtrack album with the new title of PEOPLE GET UP AND DRIVE YOUR FUNKY SOUL.
TAKE ME JUST AS I AM by LYN COLLINS appears here in long form - an edit was released as a single on the People label.
NOTE: Acetate reference discs are not intended for repeated play - their function was as a TEST record.. HOWEVER, these play and sound great!
