Description

From the archive of noted James Brownj historian, Alan Leeds.
Incredibly rare....very few of these metallic acetate master references were cut. Few survived as most were eventually scrapped.
UNISSUED in this form, this is the complete, unedited, 8:20 version of DON'T TELL IT. (A 4 minute edit was issued in 1976 on the Polydor album BODY HEAT - a shame because the groove really takes off in the last half of the track.)
DON'T TELL IT was recorded at the same session as "Doing It To Death" on January 29, 1973, at International Studios in Augusta,Ga. Brown is accompanied by The J.B.'s: Ike Oakley & Hasaan Jamison:trumpet; Fred Wesley:trombone; Maceo Parker:alto sax; St. Clair Pinckney & Eldee Williams:tenor sax; Jimmy Nolen & Cheese Martin:guitar; Fred Thomas:bass; John "Jabo" Starks:drums.
NOTE: Acetate reference discs are not intended for repeated play - their function was as a TEST record.. HOWEVER, these play and sound great!
