Description
A rare opportunity to obtain a totally original Jamaican pressing of the classic In The Light Dub.
A very highly rated album on the Hungry Town label, based on Horace Andy's In The Light LP and dubbed by King Tubby 'disciple' Prince Jammy. This is dub of the highest quality.
Now, I am not an expert, so may be wrong, but I believe that before the 'official' JA release a few of these albums came out in plain white sleeves, which is exactly what you have here. These may have been promotional copies, or just put out to test the market, but I think they were extremely limited in number. The sleeve is a generic plain white one, with the album title written on in marker pen, presumably by the manufacturer, or possibly the retailer.
The on-disc labels look more amateurish than the official release – more 'typewriter-like', if you will. For comparison, I've shown a label from the official release in the fourth image. All of the others are from the LP on offer here.
This LP does have the same catalogue number – Hungry Town HT-1179.
This is also shown in the runout groove area, as well as E. Dasilva – presumably a reference to Everton Dasilva who is credited as one of the producers and also as a percussionist, but who knows, maybe he also cut the disc?
As far as I can tell the tracklist is the same as for the 'official' release, namely:
A1 – Music Dub
A2 – Dub There
A3 – Government Dub
A4 – Rasta Dub
A5 – Fever Dub
B1 – Dub The Light
B2 – Problems Dub
B3 – I And I
B4 – Collie Dub
B5 – Dub Down Rome
The sleeve is in perfectly acceptable condition, but it is just a plain sleeve with writing on it.
The LP has hardly been played, although grading these original Jamaican pressings for audio quality can be difficult as they were often pretty crackly even from new. Visually it's clean and scratch-free – it plays well and sounds very good.
But why not have a listen – help yourself to this audio file:

This contains (randomly chosen) extracts of tracks from both sides, including some inter-track surface noise. No digital processing has been applied – it's a direct recording straight from vinyl to computer, encoded and uploaded. A listen to this will tell you more than any description I could write.

Delivery within the UK is available at £3.95 - this is for shipping in a standard LP mailer with card reinforcements. If you require something more substantial it will probably cost more. Also available to overseas buyers via the eBay International Shipping service.
