Description

This is part of a big auction of mainly Herald & Ember 45's I'm running this week. There are several bonus listings as well that I pulled for previous auctions, but didn't have time to list.  A few really cool gems.  Take a look at these and keep an eye out for an Atlantic auction starting 8/21 and mixed small label auction (Ace, Baton, Fire, Apollo & more) in early September.

Release: Lightnin' Hopkins - Finally Met My Baby / That's Alright Baby


Format: 45 rpm 7" single


Year: 1956


Notes: Original pressing from Hopkins' loved string of Herald 45's. He signed to Herald in 1954 when he was at the top of his game. This one has an odd error - the B-side label is on both sides.  The record is pressed correctly, both songs play like they should on either side.  It's just the unusual label error.  To make it even stranger, one side is "corrected" with pencil, but the title is incorrectly noted as "ME AND MY BABY FINALLY MET".

Vinyl Condition: G+, not sure what to grade this one.  It has a melt mark on the start of side A and small warp that affects play throughout.  With gentle pressure added to the head, it plays well and sounds nice.  Could the warp be flattened? I'm not sure.  Would be an awesome record if so.  Label has some light scuffing in addition to the pencil corrections.  I'm offering this one more as a collector's item/oddity than a nicely playable copy.
