From circa 1979 (or 1980?) here is the Ultimate OINGO BOINGO Collector's Item: This is the Original Private press OINGO BOINGO 10-inch vinyl DEMO EP - Hand spray painted, stenciled and numbered. Recorded and pressed by DANNY ELFMAN and other band members, for distribution to record labels, promoters and radio stations in hopes of getting signed to a record contract.
This Demo's pressing run consisted of only 130 copies (the vast majority of which have since been either lost or destroyed); this is copy #57, according to the notation on the back. I purchased this, in a moment of rash excitement, at Amoeba Records on Sunset in the spring, and have decided that I can not afford to have this valuable of a record in my collection. The front cover is an original, unique work of art (spray painted background & stencilled lettering) and the back cover is stamped "Educational Material, Not For Sale !", as shown. I have also included a copy of the original lyric sheet, as shown.
The OINGO BOINGO DEMO EP contains 4 tracks: "AIN'T THIS THE LIFE" (3:35) and "ONLY A LAD" (4:18) on Side One; "FORBIDDEN ZONE" (3:59) and "I'M SO BAD" (3:56) on Side Two.
CONDITION: Cover is in VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) condition, no seam splits, clean corners and no creasing. Vinyl has been played and has a few minor marks, but is in VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) to EXCELLENT (EX) condition. It has been play tested.
