Description
Up for auction is one of the Must-Have HOLY GRAIL's for any Metallica collector. This album has the only pre-Kill Em' All version of Hit the Lights recorded without Dave Mustaine. Also, Metallica was misspelled as "Mettallica". Below is the discogs description of this release:
"Metal Massacre" was the first release for Metal Blade Records and was a compilation of unsigned metal bands. The first pressing on Metal Blade contained 10 tracks. It started off with the song "Cold Day In Hell" by Steeler and also featured the song "Tell The World" by Ratt. The album closed with the song "Hit The Lights" by Metallica, whose name was misspelled as "Mettallica". Although bassist Ron McGovney and guitarist Dave Mustaine were credited in the album's notes, the track was actually only featured James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich with lead guitar assistance from Lloyd Grant. Subsequent repressings of the compilation saw the Steeler and Ratt tracks omitted, with Black 'N' Blue's "Chains Around Heaven" being added as the album's opener. Also, a re-recorded version of "Hit The Lights" (this one featuring McGovney and Mustaine) replaced the original version. Condition:
Vinyl is VG (has light scuffs and an almost un-noticeable slight warp but plays through start to finish.)
Sleeve is VG (has small creases and slight edge wear- also has an old price tag that I do not want to rip all the way off because it will tear.)
