This is the first pressing of Metal Blade Records' first-ever release - the original Metal Massacre compilation LP from 1982.

This LP is the holy grail of Metallica collectibles: the first recording of the band that was ever released. Note how their name is misspelled as "Mettallica" on the back of the outer sleeve, an error corrected on subsequent pressings of the record.
The version of Hit the Lights featured on this album predates the recording of ALL of Metallica's pre-Kill 'em All demos.
It's also notable that the song was re-recorded for all subsequent pressings of Metal Massacre. As a result, this first pressing is the ONLY way to hear Metallica's first-ever recorded track the way it was meant to be heard - on glorious vinyl.
This release also features tracks by Steeler and Ratt which were each removed from subsequent pressings.
