Description

Here is a unique item for Henry Hall fans. Visitors to 8 Randolph Mews, Paddington, London, will notice a green plaque on the wall. I was given this bundle of research papers by the widow of the late John Franks, who successfully lobbied Westminster Council to award Henry Hall a green plaque after buying the house off him in the late 1980s. Mr Franks collected sheet music, photos and several magazines which were displayed when Hall's plaque was unveiled by Dame Vera Lynn in 1994. This is a unique Henry Hall item which has never come to market before, but deserves to go to a fan who will appreciate it.
The contents inside are as follows:

  • 1 signed black and white photo of Henry Hall with a group of blind musicians, and a letter from Henry Hall's wife thanking Mr & Mrs Franks
  • 10 different Henry Hall sheet music songs!
  • 6 editions of Henry Hall's 'Popular Music Weekly'
  • Letters from Westminster Council with the plaque design and a reply from Vera Lynn accepting the invitation to be there
  • 1 copy of the Jack Hulbert & Cicely Courtneidge society magazine
  • 1 photocopy of the Westminister & Pimlico News showing Dame Vera Lynn unveiling the plaque
  • 1 piece of Vera Lynn sheet music
  • 3 Hall obituraries
  • 1 guest list for the unveiling
  • 1 copy of Henry Hall's "Little Venice" which was inspired by his home
  • 1 guest list and order of ceremony
  • 1 Teddy Bear's Picnic 45rpm record
  • 1 Teddy Bear's picnic book
Plus a few other scraps of paper.
