Help Yourself was formed in the London area of England in 1970 initially as a backup band
for Malcolm Morley, who was signed as a solo act under the management of the Famepushers
whose acts Brinsley Schwarz and Ernie Graham had also secured contracts
with the U.K. division of United Artists/Liberty Records.
The band consisted of Richard Treece (guitars/vocals/harmonica),
Dave Charles (drums/percussion/vocals), Ken Whaley (bass),
and of course Malcolm Morley (guitars/keyboards/vocals).
Help Yourself recorded their debut self-titled album in early 1971.
After their demise, Malcolm Morley had a spell with Man (and Ken Whaley,
departed for Ducks Deluxe, later joined him there). The rest of the band joined
Deke Leonard's Iceberg, and Treece was later in The Flying Aces....

On this set, the band blends its hippie pastoral sounds with a West Coast-styled psychedelia
that will appeal to fans of such acts as the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service,
or even Phish. While the band did achieve some degree of success in the early '70s
and developed a large fan base, it broke up after The Return of Ken Whaley.
The 15 songs on this two-LP set include some beautiful Crosby, Stills & Nash-styled harmonies
together with stunning jams and melodic acoustic tunes with a rural feel...(AllMusic)
