AMALIA BAKA (or BACHA) - MALTA MATSA (1890/5 - 1979) "The Distinguished Once & Unknown Today" PEOPLE'S HERITAGE Amalia Vaca (artistic pseudonym) of Jewish origin is the unknown - Smyrneikos and Politikos traditional song, who made a career in America in the past century. Together with Marika Papagika, Mrs. Koula (Koula Antonopoulou), Angeliki Karagianni and Virginia Mangidou are among the most important female representatives of Greek singing and recording in America. He was born in 1890 (or 1895?) In Ioannina, within a poor Jewish family. Her real name was Mali Matsa and she died in Florida, America in 1979. Amalia in 1912, at the age of 22 (or 17), migrated to America by ship, following the fate of many girls at the time. Her family had agreed to give her a bride to a countryman in America, Iakovo Sarreta. The couple stays near the Romanic Synagogue, on Riftington Street. With her husband she acquires two daughters, Diamond and Ester-Kleoniki. Mali Matsa's first job is a seamstress at a clothing factory. But her great love is the song. It is speculated that her involvement with the traditional and mainly with the local Yannitsa song must have begun from her childhood years in Ioannina. So, after deciding to engage professionally with the song, she starts appearing in New York's coffee amman, where she performs Greek and Turkish songs with the artistic name "Amalia". In the early 1920s he enters the discography and writes his first songs. Her galaxies, in the first half of the 20th century, come to "immortalize" the style of the Yannivian tradition, as it stands at the verge of liberating the city. Amalia Vaca, as it appears through her perfect performances, did not only have a mouth-watering and pliable, warm, Byzantine voice with rare metal, but also had a lot of musical knowledge on Macamia, since she singled seldom songs on mixed music streets , which were unprecedented and none of the contemporaries deplored to make a second run !! However, Amalia's appearances in New York's Brown Amman and her recordings create problems and lock-ins in her marriage. Her relationships with her husband are getting worse every day. She even gets her little daughter, Kleoniki, and sends her back to Greece, in Ioannina. The course of her life, however, shows that Amalia Vaca had a free spirit, which above all had put her art. Quick note on grading:

The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"SUPERQUIET" is basically noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an exceptionally quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example without undue noise for a give pressing.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.

Records will be packed safely between corrugated cardboard in a sturdy box with plenty of padding for safe shipment.
