ELUSIVE PROGMONSTER!!!PERPLEXING SONGCRAFT!!!AN INSPIRATION TO MANY SUBSEQUENT TOPACTS!!!
!!!!A VERY HARD FIND!!! A few hundred (rumoured to be around 600) were ever pressed of this fantastic prog/psych album. It is hard to understand why they never made the big time.
In all my years this is only the third time I have come across this PROGMONSTER of which only 600 are rumoured to be about. Rare ... anyone?? This one is more desirable still as the vinyl does not appear to have been played. Under an intense light there are no lines or marks to be seen except from the last track on side 1 which has some of the wispiest retraction scuff lines. This is truly the best copy of this album you are ever likely to find.
Sensational sound quality, I have played this through in its entirety and it was a great joy!!! NO skips or jumps. NO clicks or crackle, this is really a stunning heavy glossy jet black vinyl . Inspected under an intense lightsource and angled
Background Info:
The band was founded in 1969 by twin brothers Colin and Stewart Goldring, who were joined by drummer Nigel Pegrum from Spice (the band that would later evolve into Uriah Heep), Peter "Mars" Cowling on bass, John Earle on vocals, and Charlotte Fendrich on piano. Colin also made an appearance on the Yes album. They came up with the strange band name by reversing and slightly rearranging the brothers' surname. In May 1972, the British music magazine NME reported that Gnidrolog was to appear at the Great Western Express Lincoln Festival on 26 May that year. Other acts to perform in the Giants of Tomorrow marquee included Budgie, Skin Alley, Tea & Sympathy, John Martyn, and Warhorse.[1] In 1972, Gnidrolog released both their first and second albums, In Spite of Harry's Toe-Nail and Lady Lake, before disbanding due to a lack of commercial success. Despite having played gigs with fairly well-known bands such as Colosseum, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Wishbone Ash, Soft Machine, and Magma in their brief career, they have always remained relatively obscure.
Vinyl: NM!! A sensational find!!! I have played this in FULL twice over> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more detailed observation. I am very glad to be able to report that this is a fine slab of vinyl without any problems at all and as such worthy of inclusion of any great prog collection. Of course NO jumps/clicks/skips etc.
Gatefold Sleeve: EX. NO creases. This sleeve is wonderfully textured like sackmaterial, very unusual. The textured feature is also applied on the inside gatefold, which is mint and contains all lyrics. It has the top right corner of the front gatefold only clipped as was sometimes done in the early seventies, when an album was either imported, exported or deleted. This does not distract from the general appearance of the sleeve. All edges are dead straight. The opening is wonderfully crisp. Very light storage scuffs to the bottom edge and corner but again quite minimal. This album has been carefully looked after. Only very light corner "mini" bumps. As said I have seen this twice before and the sleeves of those were heavily worn as the sleeve is more prone to wear than any other, being matt and textured. a very very light ring impression on the back. This sleeve is lovely!!!!
This is a unique investment opportunity!!! Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible!!! This is a great and seriously collectable super album!! You will buy into a piece of heavy prog core history.
Labels: NM!!! Unbelievably ... not a single spindle mark!!!!
