Genesis Trespass Original Pink Scroll 1st Press UK LP Near Mint
This is one of 5 completely original studio Genesis LP’s I am currently auctioning, spanning the Gabriel Era from Trespass to “The Lamb”. I am offering for sale only first pressings complete with every exact feature that which makes them truly original copies. Please take a look at these other auctions I currently have running on ebay!!
Genesis / Trespass. Charisma CAS 1020. Oct 1970 Original UK pressing of their second studio LP. Textured sleeve with no credits on the spine. Original Charisma “pink scroll” labels. Complete with the original mid / dark green lyric insert.
Matrix: Side 1 A-2U 1 L Side 2 B-2U 1 R
Overall Condition: This is a really stunning example of this LP. It is completely original and complete with its lyric insert.
The Overall grade is Near Mint and importantly this is one of the earliest records produced in the production run with single stampers L and R representing the 8th and 2nd stampers respectively on each side in the GRAMOPHLTD sequence used at the Charisma pressing factory (EMI).
Outer Sleeve: NM. The outer textured sleeve is in superb condition. The spines and edges are unworn with no perceptible rubbing or wear. This in itself is very rare for any LP of this age. The textured cover is likewise unmarked and free from any material defects. I can only point out one tiny brown spot towards the opening edge of the gatefold towards the bottom but this is very small and does not detract from the overall quality of the sleeve in any way. I hesitate to grade anything completely mint so on that basis I am entirely happy grading the sleeve as near mint as it is superb.
Inner Gatefold : Again this is superb and has no discernable defects.
Lyric Insert. Mint. The original mid – dark green lyric insert is completely unworn and flat with no creasing or defects. Truly superb and mint.
Record: Graded EX+ to Near Mint. Again this copy does not disappoint when examining the vinyl. There are just a very few faint hairline marks visible when held up to halogen light, and it is simply one of the best copies I have ever seen.
I would point out that the record has been cleaned in the past with a solution which has left a slight marbling effect to the surface of the LP where it has eventually dried. I have seen this many times before and whilst it can make the LP visually slightly disconcerting to look at, there is no lasting damage caused by this solution. To test this I play tested it all the way through on my Project deck with Ortofon cartridge, and it really did perform amazingly. The track Stagnation sounded utterly fantastic and the record produced virtually no clicks or sounds apart from a small audible noise on the last few revolutions of “The Knife”.
(At the risk of repeating myself) I cannot stress enough what a fabulous copy this is!
Labels: Graded NM. When held up to halogen light the labels shows slight residue marks (probably due to the cleaning noted above) but this is not detectable or visible under normal viewing.
Thanks for looking.
SINCE LISTING I HAVE NOTICED THAT A COUPLE OF THE PHOTOS GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT THERE IS A YELLOWING OF THE SLEEVE . THIS IS NOT THE CASE AND IS A PROBLEM WITH THE IMAGE ONLY. THIS ITEM IS IMMACULATE!!!!!
