In all my years of collecting records I have never once seen a better copy of this glorious album: Glenn Gould’s original 1956 recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, on the original 1956 Columbia grey 6-Eye label, a true first pressing—in MINT condition. Truly. The disc looks like it has never been touched. Just a perfect, perfect copy. The cover is also in unbelievable condition, with only the tiniest signs of gentle use and age, barely. Of course it also still includes the often-missing inner sleeve with important liner notes. A perfectly complete and pristine copy. You will never see a better one. Just magnificent.
And it is, as you all know, one of the greatest recordings in the history of classical music records. Gould became a star with this record, and it sparked the whole Bach and Baroque revival that really got going in the 60s. What a record… and what a copy. Impossible to beat this one.
