Description
Highly sought after by collectors of Afro-Beat, Afro-Cuban, Jazz, & breakbeats. Only rare occasions an original copy turns up.
Nigerian master drummer Ginger Johnson was a favourite on the 60's London Underground club scene during the mod era: he was a regular performer at the UFO club and of course his legendary appearance onstage with the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park in 1969 during Sympathy For the Devil.
Superb recording by John Wood (Fairport Convention etc) at Sound Techniques, March 1967.
Thunderous drumming overlaid with polyrhythmic percussion, great melodies, chants & a killer jazz horn section, together with guitars, flute and African instrumentation such as bass thumb piano. Will appeal to a wide & varied audience. Apart from the re-discovered lost gem factor, it's a really strong, highly infectious beauty of an album;
Great condition, plays beautifully.
