Description

An Anthology Of Colored Jazz - Decca 182 - 1940 - Six 78 RPM  Set - Signed NM
I have had a lot of 78's pass through my hands over the years. Most are trashed. This set is in beautiful shape. It comes with original booklet and there are two RARE signatures / autographs dated 1948. Autographs are J.C. Higginbotham and Red Allen. Many top of the line Jazz players on this one.
Henry James "Red" Allen, Jr. (January 7, 1908 – April 17, 1967) was an American jazz trumpeter and vocalist whose playing has been claimed by Joachim-Ernst Berendt and others as the first to fully incorporate the innovations of Louis Armstrong.
J. (Jack) C. Higginbotham (May 11, 1906 – May 26, 1973) was an American jazz trombonist. His playing was robust and swinging.
This is a rare box set of six 78 RPM records featuring various jazz artists titled "An Anthology Of Colored Jazz". The records were released by Decca in 1940 and come in a cardboard sleeve with an original cover. The records are in excellent (EX) condition and have been signed by two of the Artists. The set includes 10" records with a catalog number of 182. The record label is Decca and the material used is shellac. The set falls under the Vinyl Records and Music categories. It features big band and swing music from the 1940s era and is a great addition to any jazz collection.
